摘要 田纳西威廉姆斯是最著名的美国南方剧作家。他以擅长塑造具有浓厚南方 文化背景，尤其是受传统淑女式教育的南方女性著称。阿曼达和布兰琪是这些女 性的典型代表。田纳西笔下的南方女性都坚信她们的传统文化是人类文明的精 华，因而是有相当价值的。然而这样的价值得不到现代工业化社会的认同。这些 女性大都有敏感而细腻的感情。由于不堪忍受工业化社会的种种丑恶，她们纷纷 具风格的人物形象阿曼达。在以后的作品中田纳西还塑造了一些有着类似南 方文化背景的女性，其中欲望号街车中的布兰琪尤为突出。田纳西本人曾承 认他是一位喜欢把个人生活溶入他的创作中的作家。因此，论文首先对田纳西的 家庭背景以及他的童年的特别经历作了相应的介绍以期从田纳西本人的生活经历 中找寻到他作品中人物的影子。论文还把涉及到的两种文化作了细致的解读并作
