语用学、系统功能语言学、会话分析等多个领域进行研究，取得了丰硕的成果。在 我国，不少学者也对其进行了分析，如王得杏、何自然、黄国文、祝婉瑾、于国栋 等等，对后续的研究都有相当大的启示。尽管学者们承认语码转换存在诸多的心理 及认知因素，但系统地对语码转换进行认知研究却基本无人问津。因此，本文有两 个目标：( 1 ) 运用图形背景理论和突出观阐释汉英语码转换的动机：( 2 ) 在原型理 论框架内描述汉英语码转换的形，奈句法限制特征。 在讨论这些中心问题以i j ，本文主要讨论了语码转换与借词，语码转换与使用 两种语占或方言( d i g l o s s i a ) 概念的区别。因此本文将语码转换定义为：说话者在同 一句话罩使用了来自于两个或多个不同语码系统的语码单位的一种语言行为现象。 接着提出了语码转换研究在中国的三个阶段：( 1 ) 引进理论及评介阶段；( 2 ) 拓展 理论及深化阶段：( 3 ) 创新理论及成熟阶段。 在对语码转换相关文献进行综述时，我们发现已有的语码转换模式如 m y e r s s e o t t o n 的句内语码转换模式“m l f ”和标记模式“m m ”明昆蕴涵着认知因 素，为从认知机制的角度研究汉英语码转换的动机和形态句法限制提供了一定的理 论背景。图形背景论( f i g u r e g r o u n dt h e o r y ) 是以突显( p r o m i n e n c e ) 原则为基础 的一种理论。“图形背景分离原则”是语言组织概念内容的一个基本认知原则。汉英 语码转换差要以两种模式出现：( 1 ) 主体语汉语+ 嵌入语英语，( 2 ) 主体语英语+ 嵌入语汉语。它们分别体现了由于突显对象不同而导致图形与背景的角色转换关系， 内容摘要 v 与m y e r s s c o t t o n 的句内语码转换模式“m l f ”和标记模式“m m ”提出的语码转换 的动机不谋面合。而在具体的汉英语码转换语境中，则形成两种模式：( 1 ) 主体语 汉语( 背景) + 嵌入语英语( 图形) ，( 2 ) 主体语英语( 背景) + 嵌入语汉语( 图 形) 。 原型理论的核心意义表现为三点：( 1 ) 原型可以指一个范畴中的核心成员或该 范畴中的一群核心成员；( 2 ) 原型可以是范畴原型的特征组合；( 3 ) 原型对应于范 畴中核心概念的图示表征。因此，本文应用原型理论从两个方面探讨了汉英语码转 换的限制：( 1 ) 嵌入语英语词汇及语言岛在书面语和口语的汉英语码转换的分布：( 2 ) 嵌入语英语词汇及语言岛的形态句法的原型特征。结果发现，汉英语码转换在分布 及形态句法上特现出原型性，既印证了m y e r s s c o t t o n 关于语码转换中主体语和嵌入 语的假设也符合原型理论的特征。以下是主要发现： ( 1 ) 汉英语码转换主要通过插入的方式，以句内语码转换为主； ( 2 ) 汉英语码转换整体上遵循一定的语法规则，不是杂乱无章的随意混杂语码： ( 3 ) 主体语汉语在转换中始终起主导和决定作用； ( 4 ) 嵌入语英语词汇的形念句法特征由主体语汉语决定； ( 5 ) 名词及名词词组在嵌入语英语词汇中占据主导地位，其次是动词及动词词 组，形容词及形容词组； ( 6 ) 几乎所有的嵌入语语吉岛都足强制性语言岛，并担任重要的句法功能。 最后要提及的是承认本文还存在一些不足之处，尤其在语料收集方面。涉及书 面语码转换的语料主要来源于围城及6 种报纸，口语语码转换的语料主要来源 于作者所在的大学生群体在日常生活及网络中的会话记录，虽具有一定的普遍性， 但在数据统计的信度和效度上有待提高。因此，我们认为：( 1 ) 要全面有效地研究 汉英语码转换，建立语料库迫在眉睫：( 2 ) 我们仅应用认知理论对汉英语码转换的 动机及限制进行了探讨，相信对汉英语码转换的认知研究以后会越束越深入，走向 成熟。( 3 ) 语码转换现象应加大跨学科研究的力度，尤其在二语习得和外语教学方 面值得藿视。 关键词：汉英语码转换图形背景理论动机原型理论形态句法限制 m a
