内容提要 本文讨论了文体学理论在提高非英语专业大学生的英语口头交际能力方 面的可行性问题及其在英语教学中的实际应用。 随着中国加入世贸组织，大学生在毕业后有越来越多的机会用英语与英语 国家的人交谈。我国的大学生在上大学以前，在中学学习了六年或更长时间的 英语，他们对英语语法很熟悉。尽管如此，他们难以用英语进行正常的交际。 面对在交际中存在的问题， 老师们一直在想方设法改进英语教学，英语教学 的目标己不再仅仅是通过考试，而是要提高学生用英语进行交际的能力。通过 作者数年的教学实践活动，在本文中，作者建议在英语教学、尤其是口语教学 中应用文体学理论。 首先，本文讨论了文体学与交际能力之间的关系。文体学是一门从语言学 的角度研究文体的理论。它所关心的重要问题是如何在不同的场合使用恰当的 语言。在不同的场合，人们使用不同的语言变体。在文中，作者讨论了英语的 五种变体( 庄严体、正式体、商议体、随意体和亲密体) 以及它们的使用场合。 一种好的文体必须要符合语境，使人们认为它运用得当。对于英语学习者来说， 最重要的是要掌握不同文体的语言特征，这样才能成功地进行交际。本文还介 绍了“交际能力”这一概念。交际能力包括语言能力和语用能力( 语用能力包 括社会语言能力、语篇能力和策略能力) ，其中，语用能力对大学生来说尤为 重要。可以说，文体学理论辅助英语教学将提高学生的交际能力。 其次，本文介绍了文体学理论的一个重要概念：非语言环境。非语言环境 包括文化环境和情景语境。文化是指一个社会所具有的独特的信仰、习惯、制 度、目标和技术的总模式。情景语境包括话题、谈话者及交际方式。文化环境 和情景语境决定着语言变体的使用。这种在特定的情景语境中使用的、有一定 的语言特征的变体被称作“语域”。当人们交谈的时候，有关情景语境的知识 可以帮助他们选择恰当的语域。 第三，本文详尽阐述了e l 语与书面语的区别。它们的区别主要在于前者一 般是事前有构思，后者或多或少是自发的。写作有时间修饰、润色，必要时可 f 寄3 j i 尘 、： 以改写或全部重写。而在说话时，人们的话和思想是在谈话过程中出现的，事 先没有构思，也未经推敲，在表达一个思想或说一个句予中间往往有犹豫不决 或改变话语的现象。对于口语和书面语之间的区别，本文在四个层级上进行了 描述：语音、词汇、句法和语篇。了解口语与书面语的区别后，学生就不会在 非正式的口头交际中运用书面语。 第四，本文列举了大学生在交际中出现的问题。这些问题包括：语域的误 用、语域的混用、将汉语的表达习惯用于英语、对英语文化缺乏了解以及缺少 交际策略等。 第五，本文讨论了如何从文体学的角度来解决上述问题。文中论述了准确 与得体之间的关系。它们互相联系，准确是得体的重要基础，但准确不能代表 得体，得体是交际的最高境界。除此之外还讨论了四种基本技能( 听、说、读、 写) 之间的关系。如果没有接受性( 昕、读) 技能，运用性技能( 说、写) 就 像空中楼阁。因此，在口语课堂上提高学生的口头交际能力并不意味着总体教 学活动就可以忽视听、读、写的能力的培养。在交际中，这四种能力是相互联 系的统一体。要提高交际能力，学生就必须通过听和读来获取语言能力。口语 课堂对提高学生的口头交际能力有着直接影响。本文提出在口语课堂上要从语 言和非语言因素两方面来培养学生的交际能力。一方面，老师要结合语境培养 学生的文体知识，另一方面，老师要结合语境传授文化背景知识。在教情景会
