摘要语言不仅仅客观地表达命题式的思想，还要表达言语主体即说话人的观点、感情和态度。情态就是这样一个用来表达说话人主观态度的范畴。情态表达的产生与语言的主观性密切相关。情态动词是表达情态功能的一个主要手段。在所有情态动词中，可能性认识情态动词表达的主观性最强，主观化程度最高。本文运用认知语言学中的语法化理论，采用共时研究和历时研究相结合的方法，探讨可能性认识情态动词的语法化过程。认识情态意义可以由非认识情态意义转变而来，这可以看作是普通词汇向主观化方向的发展，从而导致了情态动词的语法化。现代汉语中的可能性认识情态动词包括“能 、“会 、“可能”、“能够”等。其中“能 、“会”、“能够 表现出了多义性。这个多义性可以看作是可能性认识情态动词的语法化在共时层面的体现。通过对各义项进行详细分析，我们考察了这些义项间的联系，认为这些义项之间存在一个共同的隐喻基础，且存在由客观意义向弱主观性意义再向强主观性意义衍生的一个主观化路径。为了解释情态动词的多义性是如何形成的，我们接着对“能”和“会”等的历时发展进行了考察。我们发现他们存在一个语法化的过程，且在这个过程中，主观化起着重要的作用。例如：“能的词源义是一种似熊的动物，由此指具有超凡能力的人。先秦时代的“能 是及物动词，表示“能够做到”“胜任 之义。在语用过程中，出于主观表达的需要，通过认知推理，在隐喻和转喻等心理机制的作用下“能的词义逐渐虚化为表示可能。由于特定的句法结构和语义相宜性是一个实词语法化的两个必要条件，因此本文在分析过程中着重通过寻找特定的句法环境和相宜的语义条件来探讨这些词在语法化过程中的演变机制。最后，我们为我们提出的从实词向可能性认识情态标记发展的这样一条语法化路径提供了类型学的证据，指出相同的语法化路径还存在于英语等语言中，因而这可以看作是人类语言的一个共性。关键词：可能性；认识情态；情态动词；语法化；主观化a
