中文摘要 语言学习的社会学研究是语言研究的一个重要领域，近年来越来越受到国内 多卜学袭豹关注。本文基于华东鼷蒲大学邹为诚教授主持的上海索哲学社会科学研 究课题贫富差距因素对上海市基础教育中外语教育的影响研究( 课题编号： 2 0 0 3 b z h 0 0 5 ) 所收集熬有关家庭鹜景和英语学习成效的数据。研究主要采搦抽 样问卷调查的方式，从上海市的7 0 4 所初级中学( 包括公办中学和民办中学) 中 按分层抽样的原则随机抽取了8 所学校，这8 所学校的初三毕业班学生( 共2 0 3 4 人) 全部为调森对象。 研究结果表明，家庭经济状况、家长社会权力和家长的教育程度对学生英语 学习的成绩和学习英语的信心与兴趣有显著的影响。优越的家庭背景能为学生的 英语学习提供各种形式的高质量拳习机会和长期充足的资金支持，从而极大地提 离学生学习英语豹信心和兴趣。研究证实，即使是在义务教育阶段，多种学习机 会的环境因素对于成功的外语学习也有着显著的影响。 本文共分7 个部分。 第一章简要介绍了中国的英语教育现状。 第二章构成本文的理论基础，从语言学、教育学和社会学的角度阐述家庭背 景对语言学习的影萄，介绍了国内外这方灏主要的研究项鞘及成果。 第三章追溯了外语教学在中阑的历史，简述了外语学习的地位在不同的社会 历史阶段的跌宕起伏，特刹强调了乡 语学习与社会家庭因素艴相互彩晌。 第四章是对研究方法的介绍，包括对抽样方法和样本的描述、问卷和测试、 本文数据的其它来源以及对一些熏要变量的说明。 第五章是数据分析，分析了家庭背景各个变量( 家庭经济收入、家长教育程 度、家长社会权力) 与英语学习的各个变艇( 测试成绩、英语学习花费、英语学 习的机会、对英语学习的兴趣、开始英语学习的时黼等) 的关系。 第六章是对数据分析结果的讨论，分析了上海市基础英语教育中教学资源分 配的不均衡和正规学校樊语教育斡不是，指出了家庭背景对英语学习的各个方匿 的影响，并进一步指出家庭背景对英语学习的影响要受到其它因素( 国家和地方 教育政策、地区差异、学习者自身因素等) 的制约。 第七章是本文的结论部分，缩合近年来国家教育政策的变化，指 随着人们
