摘要 翻译与美学通过语言联系起来，探讨原文、译文和翻译过程的美， 这一研究模式在中国翻译史上占了重要的篇章。从三美的视角来谈古诗 翻译，不可回避的一个人物就是许渊冲。许渊冲在翻译汉语古诗时提出： 诗要求美，译要求真；把美的诗译得不美，不能算是存真；只有在不失 真的条件下尽量求美，才是译诗的原则。在许渊冲看来，原诗( 汉语古诗) 具有“音美、形美、意美 ，因此在翻译汉语古诗时，自然要把这些“美 创造性、艺术性地再现出来。 2 0 世纪9 0 年代，翻译研究经历了文化转向，扭转了语言学翻译研究 的独占鳌头的局面。文化派翻译研究者着眼于源语与译语的差异，对翻 译过程中的作者与译者、作者与读者、原语文本和目标文本以及各自所 处的文化之间的关系进行探讨，翻译也有了更加宏大的审视视野。 对翻译而言，“异 与“同 这两个概念的重要性不言而喻。在翻 译研究中，我们不可避免地要与“异 与“同”问题相遇，从中可以发 现一个现象：不可译往往源于“异”，而可译则基于“同”。我们知道， 英语与汉语是两门迥异的语言。在翻译汉语古诗时，译者有各自的目的 取向，因而采用不同的翻译策略，这势必造成不同的翻译结果。究竟是 采取归化以追求译文的流畅，对文本进行收编，还是采取“异化以昭 示非激进的不合作以保存差异、保持交流中的语言文化自主权? 不同的 翻译策略，都会造成不同的翻译文本。而在全球化语境下，翻译话语权争 论激烈的今天，是时候对翻译重新思考了。 归化和异化作为两种主要的翻译方法历来是翻译界研究和争论的焦 点之一。异化是“指生成目标文本时会通过保留原文中某些异国情调的 东西来故意打破目标语惯例的翻译类型，它以源语文化为归宿，要求 译者向作者靠拢，采取相应于作者所使用的源语表达方式，来传达原文 的内容；归化是指“译文采用明白、流畅的风格以使目标语读者对外来 文本的陌生减低到最低程度 的翻译类型，它以目的语文化为归宿，要 求译者向目的语读者靠拢，采取目的语读者所习惯的表达方式，来传达 原文的内容。把归化、异化翻译策略引入汉语古诗翻译研究，无疑带来 了新的发现和思考。 汉语古诗是中国文学园地中的一枝奇葩，通过翻译向其他国家推介 中国古诗，无疑会增进世界他国家对汉语古诗的认识，让世界其他国家 的诗歌爱好者了解中国文化。许渊冲先生就是这样的一个译者，他一生 孜孜追求通过翻译让汉语古诗走出中国，并取得一定的成绩，让人敬佩。 许先生主张在汉语古诗翻译中追求“三美 ，该主张的提出，在一定程 度上是和以散文形式翻译汉语古诗翻译主张的背离。然而在他的翻译中， 我们发现存在着许多问题。笔者研究认为，许渊冲从三美的角度来谈诗 歌翻译，很大程度是主张以一种归化的翻译策略来翻译汉语古诗；其译 文主要以追求行文流畅、语言优美为主要特征，却很大程度上掩盖了原诗 文本的异质性。 文章第一章介绍了差异、差异与翻译的关系以及差异理论下翻译的 伦理转向；第二章介绍了归化和异化的翻译策略以及在翻译中追求通顺 实为归化的翻译策略；第三章简要介绍许渊冲及其翻译理论；第四章是 对许渊冲英译汉语古诗的文本分析，指出许渊冲汉语古诗翻译的特点， 即追求行文流畅、语言优美；第五章为文章结论部分，提出译者要按照 汉语古诗的本原面貌来翻译汉语古诗，尊重差异是求美的基础。考虑到 “美”是个差异性( 相对) 的概念，汉语古诗中的“美”与英语译文中 的“美未必总是对等的。为此，译者应该通过提示、补偿、加脚注等 努力，以还原其本原面貌。只有这样汉语古诗翻译才能够使国外读者了 解汉语古诗。这也是诗歌翻译译者应有的基本翻译伦理态度。 关键词：许渊冲；汉语古诗翻译；归化；异化；尊重差异 a b s t r a c t t
