山东火学填1 1 学位论丈 摘要 阅读的本质是什么? 换言之，意义缘何而来? 一个与本族语及外语阅读教学如此 息息相关的问题在过去的几十年中却直困扰着语占学家及些实践家。对阅读 的本质，不同的学者曾从不同的角度做出了研究，如语言学家从语义学的角度， 生理学家从视觉的移动等来分析阅读。尽管这些研究在某种程度上都取得了很大 的成就，但其研究方法决定了他们的研究主要集中于阅读材料的语言分析或阅读 过程中阅读者的外在表现。真n - 十世纪七十年代之后，随着心理学，特别是认 知心理学的发展，更多的研究开始转向阅读者阅读过程中内在的思维及理解活动。 这种转变标志着与传统教学中以形式或文本为中心的教学模式的决裂，同时引入 了一种全新的以意义或读者为旨向的教学模式。图式理论正是在这样一种背景下 得以形成和发展，对阅读本质提出了令人信服的阐释，同时颠覆了许多在阅读教 学中一直占有统治地位却严重阻碍了阅读教学发展的一些错误观点。 尽管图式理论在国外得到了广泛试验和应用，国内对图式理论的研究现在仍停 留在对图式理论及阅读教学的关系的简要描述上，很少有人系统地论及该理论在 阅读中起到什么作用及如何起作用，在实证方面的研究则是少之又少。鉴于在理 论方面前人阐释的不足( 特别是国内) ，加之在国外一语或二语教学中证明适用的 理论对外语环境下的学生不一定适用，本文，一方面旨在提供一个较全面的对图 式理论的认识一其在意义获取及意义的记忆过程中的作用及读者如何在阅读过程 中运用图式理论，另一方面，通过一次实证研究，探讨图式理论是否适用于中国 学习者一该理论是否会影响中国英语学习者意义的获取和记忆。 为调查图式理论是否适用于不同水平的英语学习者，本次研究分别以济南六职 专高二两个平行班的5 0 名学生( 一个班作为控制组，一个班作为实验组) 及工会 干部学院大一两个平行班的1 l o 名学生( 一个班作为控制组，一个班作为实验组) 作为被试进行了两个程序相似的实验。实验材料是两篇关手l 万圣帮4 的文章，一篇 用于第个实验，另一篇用于第二个实验。在两个实验中，为说明背景知识是否 对阅读及记忆过程产生影响，对控制组和实验组进行不同的处理。对于控制组， 为保证他们阅读之前没有相关背景知识，首先要求他们完成份问卷，之后直接 阅读文章。对实验组，阅读之前老师先教授相关背景知识。 山东人学顺i j 学位论殳 为检验图式理论是否影响读者意义的获取，两组学生完成阅读之后都被要求 进行心忆文章内容的练习。为测验图式理论是否影响学生意义的日亿，一周之后， 再次要求两组学生做回忆文章内容的练习。 学生所做回忆结果将被划分成意义单位，首先通过社会科学统计软件包s p s s 对 两组学生所做正确的回忆、引申、曲解、明显的错误及省略作定量分析，来比较 两组学生的两次回忆是否存在量的区别。此外，本作者将引用学生所做回忆中一 些实例对学生所做上述五类回忆作定性比较，看两组学生回忆中是否存在质的差 别。 两次实验中两组学生回忆结果的定量及定性分析都表明，实验组在两次回忆中 所做正确的理解和引申都显著超过控制组，同时所做曲解和省略都明显少于控制 组。换占之，提供背景知识的学生在对文章的理解和记忆中部远远好于未提供背 景知识的学生，即图式理论对不同水平的英语学习者的阅读理解和意义的记忆过 程都起到了一定的促进作用。 鉴了二图式理论在理论及实践中的可行性及有效性，本文旨在建议在英语作为外 语的阅读教学中打破传统的以形式或文本为中心的教学模式，采取以意义为中心， 以读者为旨向的教学理念来提高阅读教学水平。
