中文摘要 在任何社会中，性别不仅仅是一个两性生理特征不同的简单问题。对于 女性而言，性别分层往往给她们带来不利的社会处境。性别不平等长久以来 都在美国社会引起了公众反响，尽管女性在美国人口总数中占一半多，但是 她们常常被当作一个少数群体。美国妇女曾经被限制在“私人领域，主要 负责家里杂务；而男性往往活跃于“公共”领域，在外面工作养家，而从中 获得财富与权力。二战后美国发生了巨大的变化，美国女性的生活也随之发 生了巨大的变化。她们从无酬劳的家务劳动转向了有薪水的劳动力市场。从 二战后至今，美国劳动力市场最显著的特征之一就是美国女性劳动力的快速 增长。尽管美国女性已大量涌入劳动力市场，性别不平等现象在职场中已有 所减弱，但是她们并未获得与男性完全平等的机会，女性和男性仍然在收入、 职业声望，职业选择等诸多方面存在着不平等现象。 本文将分四章进行论述。第一章将论述有关性别不平等现象的基本理论； 第二章将以翔实的数据作支撑，列出性别不平等现象在就业率、职业选择、 工资水平和声望方面的表现，旨在证实女性在职场中取得的进步，同时说明， 尽管女性地位在美国社会中提高了很多，但是性别不平等现象仍持续着。尔 后，第三章将探寻造成性别不平等现象的双重性一性别不平等现象的减弱及
