摘要 4 m a t 教学模式是一种八步教学法，是b e r n i c em c c a r t h y 于2 0 世纪7 0 年代 主要基于教育学、心理学、脑科学及管理学等领域的研究成果提出的，比较强调 学生学习风格及大脑倾向上的个体差异。由于教学效果显著，它在西方国家颇为 盛行，但在中国却鲜为人知。面对大学英语教学“费时低效”这一顽症，4 m a t 教学模式以及由其蜕变而来的偏右脑4 m a t 教学模式被证明很适于英语教学，确 是解决中国学者所面临的大学英语“费时低效这一难题的一条有效途径。 本文共分五章。第一章对研究背景、意义以及研究的问题作了简要介绍；第 二章是文献回顾；第三章是就4 m a t 教学模式进行的实证研究；第四章是就第 一次实验所得之结果进行分析而提出的偏右脑4 m a t 教学模式进行的实证研究； 第五章对本次研究作了总结。 本项研究分两步于2 0 0 7 至2 0 0 8 学年进行，均以宁夏职业技术学院非英语专 业学生为研究对象，旨在验证4 m a t 教学模式在大学英语教学中的有效性。 实验的第一步旨在验证三个假设：l 、4 m a - t 教学模式比常规教学法对大学 英语教学有效；2 、中国学生中的分析型风格学习者最适应常规教学，而常识型 与动力型风格学习者不适应；3 、4 m a t 教学模式可使四类风格学习者均受益。 机电工程系( 1 ) 班和( 3 ) 班的8 1 名大一学生于2 0 0 7 至2 0 0 8 学年第一学期参 与了为期7 周的实验。实验组即机电( 1 ) 班4 2 名学生的学习风格在实验开始即 被测量并分类。实验一结束，两组研究对象就参加了成绩测试和水平测试。 所有实验数据均是利用s p s s l l 5 进行处理和分析的。首先，利用独立样本 t 检验及配对样本t 检验对两组两次测试的平均成绩进行对比，前者旨在检测两 组之间的差异性，后者旨在检测同组前后测之间的差异性。其次，利用配对样本 t 检验对实验组中四组风格学习者在两次测试中的平均成绩进行对比。结果表 明：l 、4 m a t 教学模式略优于常规教学，主要体现在提高学生的综合英语水平 方面；2 、分析型风格学习者最适应常规教学，想象型和常识型风格学习者中的 右脑学习者则不适应；3 、4 m a t 教学模式基本上可满足四类风格学习者的需求， 其中想象型风格学习者受益最深，分析型风格学习者受益最浅。 基于对第一步实验结果、中美学习者差异性( 对比本阶段调查结果及 m c c a r t h y 的调查结果而得) 以及4 m a t 教学模式优劣的分析，偏右脑4 m a t 教 学模式作为适应中国英语学习国情的一种新尝试被提出并进行第二步实验去检 验其可行性及有效性。它和原模式的区别主要有两点，是上课前让学生听巴洛 克音乐五分钟左右，以使其脑波处于口波状态，因为此时学生的学习状态最佳。 二是在教学过程中尽量增加右脑策略的使用。来自机电( 1 ) 班和热动( 1 ) 班 7 8 名大一学生于2 0 0 7 2 0 0 8 学年第二学期参与了为期7 周的实验。利用独立样本 t 检验对两组两次测试的平均成绩进行对比，结果显示偏右脑4 m a t 教学模式远 远优于常规教学法，这在提高学生的学业成绩和综合英语水平方面都有体现。 整项研究结果表明，4 m a t 教学模式虽优于常规教学法，但却逊色于偏右脑 4 m a t 教学模式。这说明只要根据中国学生的实际情况做出调整，4 m a t 教学模 式还是可加以利用的。希望这项国内首次以英语为实验内容的实证研究不但能对 大学英语教学有所启迪，也能对其他层次的英语教学有所帮助， 关键词：4 m a t 教学模式，大学英语教学，偏右脑4 m a t 教学模式 a b s t r a c t 4 m a tt e a c h i n gm o d e li sa l le i 曲t s t e p c y c l eo fi n s t r u c t i o nt h a tc a p i t a l i z e so n i n d i v i d u a ll e a r n i n gs t y l e sa n db r a i nd o m i n a n c e p r o c e s s i n gp r e f e r e n c e s ，w h i c hi se f f e c t i v e l y w i d ei nu s ea b r o a db u tr e m a i n b a r e l yk n o w ni nc h i n a f a c i n gt h ep r o b l e mo f t i m e c o n s u m i n ga n di n e f f i c i e n c y i nc o l l e g ee n g l i s ht e a c h i n gf o rn o n -
