摘要 自从“自然法 问世以来，研究者们对外语教学中教师母语使用的争论就从来没 有停止过。长久以来占主导地位的观点认为无论是课堂管理还是知识的讲授，教师都应 该最大限度的使用目的语；至少应该尽量避免使用学生的母语。然而许多研究者发现， 母语在教学中对学生的目的语学习有一定的促进作用。大多数相关研究也表明教师会或 多或少的在课堂使用学生的母语。但是对我国大学英语专业课堂中教师语码转换的研究 还很有限。本文针对教师在英语专业大学英语教学中的母语的使用情况进行了实证研 究，旨在揭示大学英语课堂中语码转换的一些规律，进而为将来进一步的理论探索提供 数据支持。 为了了解教师在大学外语课堂母语的使用量，以及母语使用的功能，本文采取了课 堂录音，问卷调查，访谈的方法对对保定学院英语系的七名精读教师课堂语码转换情况 进行了研究。 为了全面的了解教师在不同教学环节中的母语使用情况，每名教师录音两次。第一 次9 0 分钟，课型涉及到新单词讲解，课文背景介绍，课文分析；第二次3 0 分钟，课型 为课后练习的处理。随后课堂录音被全部转写成文字以考察教师语码转换的存在情况， 计算母语的使用量以及使用频率并用于分析其在转码过程中的功能。问卷以七名教师和 2 0 1 名学生为调查对象。问卷参考l e v i n e ( 2 0 0 3 ) 所做问卷，稍作修改后投入使用。同时 这七名教师接受了课堂录音和问卷调查之后的访谈。问卷调查和访谈用于考察师生双方 对教师母语使用数量频率的估计以及师生对教师课堂语码转换的功能的看法等。 基于定量数据和定性数据的分析，本文发现所有受试对象在大学英语课堂中的语码 转换情况普遍存在，在1 2 0 分钟的两节课里教师平均母语使用量为2 4 7 。母语使用涉 及的功能很多，但主要是为了讲解词汇。研究还发现教师在课堂上对语码转换缺乏意识， 并且与学生对语码转换的态度不完全吻合，这导致了课堂中汉语语码的过度使用。但同 时也应注意到课堂教学存在复杂性和动态性，因而到底在何时使用多少母语还尚无定 论。 基于以上结果和发现可以看出母语在外语课堂上起着补充和促进的作用。语码转换 v l 是不能避免的也是被师生双方共同接受的。因此不应该禁止母语在外语课堂上的使用。 教师应该根据学生的需要和教学环节的需要适时适量的使用母语。鉴于在取样，材料的 收集和分析中存在局限性，许多问题有待进一步研究。 关键字：大学英语专业精读课堂教师语码转换程度功能 v i i a b s t r a c t t h ea r g u m e n to nt h et e a c h e r sn a t i v el a n g u a g eu s ei nf o r e i g nl a n g u a g et e a c h i n gh a sn c l c e r s t o p p e ds i n c et h ea d v e n to ft h en a t u r a lm e t h o d o n eo ft h em o s td e e p l yh e l db e l i e f sa m o n g l a n g u a g et e a c h e r si st h a tt h ee x c l u s i v eu s eo ft h et a r g e tl a n g u a g ei st h ep r e f e r a b l ep r a c t i c ei n t h ec l a s s r o o m w h i l er e c e n t l ym a n yr e s e a r c h e r sh a v ef o u n dt h a tt h en a t i v el a n g u a g ec 觚 b e n e f i ts t u d e n t s f o r e i 萨l a n g u a g el e a r n i n g m a n yr e l a t i v ee m p i r i c a ls t u d i e sh a v ep r o v e dt h a t t h em o t h e rt o n g u ew a su s e db yt e a c h e r st os o m ed e g r e ei nm e i re f lc l a s s e s b u tl i t t l e r e s e a r c hh a sb e e nf o u n di nm a i n l a n do fc h i n aa b o u tt h et e a c h e r s u s eo fm o t h e rt o n g u ei n e n g l i s ht e a c h i n g t h e r e f o r e , t h ee m p i r i c a ls t u d yw a su n d e r t a k e ni nu n i v e r s i t y -
