It consists of following parts: Analyzing the teaching materials:This unit is revolves around the topic of great women, there are all together six women of achievements being introduced. The reading part is one of them. She had overcome all kinds of difficulties and achieved everything she wanted to do. We can make full use of this passage to cultivate students reading ability as well as their ability to overcome difficulties they meet in their learning road.The teaching aims:1 Knowledge goalsachieve, achievement, condition, welfare, institute, connection, campaign, organization, entertainment, inspire, support, devote . toBut the evening makes it all worthwhile. P2. We see them go to sleep together in their nest for the night. P22 Ability goals a. Learn the way to describe a person from what the person did, what she/he looks like and so on.3 Moral goals Let students know what kind of qualities a great person should possess.Students should be able to understand that a persons achievement should not depend on his/her sex.Teaching important points: a. Train studentability of skimming and scanningb. Ask students to answer these questions: 1) What made her a great success?2) What should we learn from Jane Goodall?c. Enable student to realize women can be the same success as men and know about the difficulty women have on the way to success. Teaching difficult points: 1) Let everyone believe that all of us can become Jane Goodall and help students establish a proper attitude towards gender differences.2) By reading in limited time, request student to improve reading speed and accuracy of solving problems.Teaching methods: Reading in limited time, Questioning and Discussion.Teaching aids: A computer connected with internet, a projector to do video and a tape recorderTeaching steps:Step1: leading in By showing pictures of great women lead in to the textA discussion about the qualities needed to be a great woman. Elicit possible answers from students after a brainstorm. Step 2 PredictingGet the Ss to read the title and pictures, and have them predict the main content of the passage.Step3: Read the text by students themselves and find out sentences related to the key words given by the teacher. Random words zone: wildlife; protector; project; campaign; behavior, institute etc. Step4: Listening to the tape as well as reading quite; answer the questions1. Who is the protector? Jane Goodall2. What animals are observed? chimps3. When did Jane Goodall arrive at Gombe? 4. What did Jane do in the forest?
