西南交通大学硕士研究生学位论文第1 页 摘要 自二十世纪七十年代韩礼德和哈桑出版英语中的衔接一书，并创立了 衔接理论以来，衔接理论一直备受语言学界和翻译界的关注。衔接作为一种谋 篇手段，被看作是生成语篇的必要条件之一，不少国内外专家力图确立衔接在 语篇生成中的地位，并阐释其在语篇翻译中的重要意义。而译者对于源语和译 入语的衔接手段异同的认识和把握，不仅会影响译者对原文的理解，更会影响 生成译文的质量。 随着语篇分析和语篇翻译研究的发展，衔接涵盖的范围在不断地扩大，越 来越多的研究者正在逐步探讨衔接与阅读、写作、文本类型、文体特征以及翻 译的关系，并且进行英汉衔接手段的对比研究，分析衔接手段的异同对于翻译 的意义。但在翻译过程中如何把握和运用衔接手段方面的讨论还稍显不足，特 别是对于汉英衔接手段的差异对翻译策略的影响显得不够系统和完善。每种 语言都有各自的衔接手段，要想获得自然的译文，译者万万不可机械地套用原 文的衔接手段，而应使用符合译语习惯的衔接手段。在汉翻英中，译者常常需 要对原文衔接手段进行转换与调整以符合译语的特点，这也是翻译过程中不可 避免的一个难点。因此本文以韩礼德和哈桑的衔接理论为分析手段，以沈从文 的代表作边城和戴乃迭的英译本为载体，对汉英两种语言在衔接手段上存 在的异同进行分类研究，分析造成这些差异的因素，并根据汉英语篇衔接的差 异，系统性地探讨翻译策略。 本文侧重对比研究和数据实例分析，共分为五个章节。第一章简要回顾衔 接理论的起源与发展，介绍国内外学者对衔接的扩展研究，分析了衔接与语篇 分析和语篇翻译的关系，说明作者的研究目的、方法和篇章安排。第二章比较 了汉英两种语言在思维形态，句法结构，主题开展等方面的总体差异，提出汉 英语之间在意合与形合，话题突出与主语突出，竹形结构与树形结构等方面的 差异是造成两种语言在衔接方式上差异的根源。第三章和第四章是本文的重点。 研究以边城及其英译本为例，通过数据分析和大量的语料对比，分别对衔 接中的照应、省略、替代、连接、重述和搭配分两大章进行对比描述，总结了 汉英语篇衔接手段的异同及在翻译中的一些转换规律。第五章总结全文并指出 一些不足和尚待改进的地方。
