摘要归化与异化的翻译策略是译者在处理源语与译语语言文化差异时所采用的方法。采用何种翻译策略受到翻译目的、历史环境、读者期待和文本类型的影响。林语堂的翻译思想与其翻译目的及其人生态度紧密相关，他有选择、有策略地向西方读者译介了中国经典文化，采取了归化和异化相结合的翻译策略。归化或异化不应也不可能是唯一的策略。当译者向英语读者译介中国文化典籍时，首先必须要考虑到英语的语言习惯，顾及目的语读者的理解与接受，因而在表达方式上译文应尽量符合目的语的表达习惯。为了使弱势文化的文本顺利进入处于强势的目的语文化，并较容易地为目的语读者所接受，文本的选定以及翻译策略的选择至关重要。所选择的文本一方面不能与目的语文化的各种规范形成激烈冲突，另一方面还要符合目的语读者对源语文化的期待。同时还应能够满足目的语读者的文化心理需求。本文旨在探讨林语堂英译浮生六记采取的翻译策略，以期对中国译者译介中国经典文化和文学作品给予启发。本文从语言和文化角度对林译浮生六记的大量语料进行了具体分析，得出结论：就翻译的一般情况而言，语言层面应以归化翻译为主；文本风格应当用也可以用异化策略；文化层面则以异化为主，归化为辅。本文讨论了林译中的句子，四字短语、词序、风格，也探讨了中国文化中特有的称谓、专有名词、度量单位、文化特色词语、历史典故的翻译。尽管林译浮生六记在文化信息的传译方面存在着不完美之处，但其为传播中国文化所采取的翻译策略为译者提供了很好的借鉴。林译浮生六记告诉我们，译者要灵活运用归化与异化达到翻译的目的，不仅要求翻译主体具备扎实的双语能力，还要求译者对两种文化具有深刻的领悟和感应能力。关键词：林语堂；浮生六记；翻译策略；归化；异化a
