Review a) Teacher asks questions and the class answer.T: Whats on the desk/on the wall/?S: There is/are .T: Is/Are there ?S: Yes, ./No, .Then teacher chooses some students to answer those questions.b) Teacher says some sentences in Chinese and let students repeat the meaning in English.c) Teacher chooses 23 students to make up dialogues with them. They will follow the following patterns.T: Are you in front of /on the left of /on ones right?S: Yes, ./No, .T: Is there a garden in front of your house?S: Yes, ./No, .d) Teacher goes on answering questions to students.T: Whats your home like?S: .T: Do you want to move to a new house in another city?S: Yes, ./No, .T: If you move to a new city and get lost, you must ask someone the way .Step2. Learn the new words a) Students follow teacher to read the new words, and then students read them together, twice a word.b) Teacher introduces some expressions about the words, such as:along go along, walk alongturn turn right/left/backacross go acrossStep3. Listening and speaking a) Teacher shows the map and plays the tape recorder once and read them again. Students are required to find the name of the places on the map.b) Students read the dialogues after the recorder. Teacher pays attention to their pronunciation and intonation.c) Girls read role A, and boys read role B. Then change the roles.Step4. Grammar a) Teacher shows the patterns of asking ways:Excuse me, is there a/an near here? how can I get to ? which is the way to ? could you tell/show me the way to ? where is ? b) Teacher introduces how to give directions and the language points.Go up Go along Go down Walk along youll find = you will find (e.g.) get to = arrive (e.g.) turn left at the first street/corner/crossing go across = cross Its about 100meters along on the right. Im new here.Step5. Consolidation and practice Students read the dialogues together and finish 1b.a) Students make up dialogues and are not allowed to use the same place. In all the dialogues, students start from A point.b) Teacher chooses 34 groups to present.Step6. Game a) Teacher puts the cards of “bank”, “hospital”, on some students desks and uses the classroom as a big map to practice.b) T: Which one do you want?S: .Then the student who has the “” card hands up.T: .
