This allows for movement of the end panels so that the contents are able to expand and contract without bulging or otherwise distorting the can. The chuck panel is designed to give the proper clearance to the double-seaming chuck used to seal the can end to the body. A vital can-end component is the compound applied around the perimeter curl.
