Material Specification All new bottles should cause no odor, taste or discoloration of the product. Major DefectsThe following major defects are unacceptable in shipments to ABI. Any evidence of the following critical defects can result in rejection of the affected lot(s) of ware:Birdswing/Pulled GlassCrizzle FinishOverpress/Wire EdgeSplit Finish/LineoverInternal Fused Glass/Tramp GlassInternal Soft BlistersChoked NecksSpikesOver-Max. Finish Knock-OutOver-Max. Amber Color Specifications (see attached ABI test procedure)The average uncorrected light transmission (T) at 550 nm wavelength of amber beer bottles will be as follows:T550 = 35% Maximum (Target 27%)The average is obtained by testing four (4) pieces taken from the upper sidewall of the label panel of a single bottle at 90 increments. In addition, no individual piece may exceed 40% (uncorrected) at 550 nm wavelength.All amber beer bottles purchased by ABI must also have an acceptable redness ratio as defined on the attached graph. Bottle CoatingsAll bottles will be treated externally with approved coating materials included in this specification.FDA Requirements - The ingredients of bottle coating formulations must meet FDA requirements. Each supplier of bottles to ABI is required to verify by letter to Corporate Purchasing that the coating to be used meets these requirements.ABI does not give blanket approval for any given coating or application system. Glass suppliers will submit bottles using the proposed coating system to the Anheuser-Busch Brewing Technical Center - Material Science Development Department for approval. Hot End TreatmentThe following specific coating materials are acceptable for use based on formulations approved by Anheuser-Busch, Brewing Division:Material DesignationCompanyStannic ChlorideMason Metals, Cardinal Chemicals, El Gato ChemicalCertincoat TC-100ATOFINA Chemicals, Inc.GP-66ATOFINA Chemicals, Inc.The following generic hot end coating materials are generally regarded as being acceptable for use:Titanium tetrachlorideMono-butyl tin chlorideSuppliers will target 0 ctu application of hot end coating contact on the bottle finish to eliminate crown rusting. Toxics Specification (For Packaging and other Goods intended for Human Contact)Supplier represents and warrants that all materials used in or applied to the goods supplied (including but not limited to all composition materials and coatings such as inks, paints, dyes and colorants) shall be free of toxic components. In determining what constitutes “toxic free” Supplier must comply with the most restrictive standards applicable under US Federal or State law regarding toxics. In complying with this specification Supplier shall take into account that the goods may be sold in all fifty states. The term “toxic” means any material which governing law or regulation has identified as presenting a risk of adverse health effects in the event of exposure (whether through inhalation, ingestion, absorption including dermal contact, or otherwise). Where unavoidable trace amounts of a toxic exist in goods to be supplied, Supplier shall notify Buyer of the facts, and substantiate that the toxic constituent content does not (a) result in a duty to warn given the normal and customary use of the goods; or (b) does not exceed the lower of:(1) the “no significant risk level”;(2) .001 x the “no observed effect level”;(3) 100 PPM if the toxic is a toxic metal; or(4) a more restrictive state or federal numeric standard otherwise established.In evaluating any “duty to warn” in connection with the “no significant risk level” and or the “no observed effect level” (NOEL) for any particular material, Supplier is directed to consider regulatory requirements under the California Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986. (22 Cal. Bottom Plate of Bottle/Cavity Identification DeviceTo facilitate the use of automatic electronic empty bottle inspection devices, it is necessary that the center area of the bottom plate of all returnable beer bottles be void of any light streaks, stippling, blisters, mold identification markings, etc., and that the color be uniform throughout.Concentric rings and AGR dots are not permitted on the bottom plate of returnable bottles.Emhart dot code may be used on the heel of bottles.Use of more than one type of CID per bottle is unacceptable except when approved in writing by ABI.Heel Video Jet Code - Suppliers will use a ten space video jet code on the heel radius (non-contact area) of non-returnable bottles for glass plant production information as follows. The code may be placed on the bottom plate of the bottle where EBIs are not used with the approval of the receiving brewery:ExampleSpace 1-4Shop DesignationCG21Space 5OpenSpace 6Year Date2005 = 5Spaces 7-9Julian Date013 = January 13Space 10OpenSpace 11-15Military Time13:24Video jet code is not to be used on new returnable bottles. Optional Hot End Heel Laser CodeAn optional laser code may be used on the heel in place of the bottom plate video jet code on NRs with written approval from ABI. The code will be placed randomly around the circumference of the heel at 2.4 mm nominal height (.3.2 mm max.) Vertical placement location will be between the base of the bottle and the start of the heel contact straight. The code is not to appear on the heel contact straight. Format for the code is the same as in section 15. Internal PressureSamples representing bottles to be shipped will, as tested by the manufacturer, meet the highest requirement established in the National Standard of China for Beer Bottles for one minute (or equivalent) when tested in accordance with ASTM method C147.The following procedure applies to bottles tested at the brewery:1) Select 20 bottles at random from a lot of production for testing.2) Accept the lot if all bottles test above 12.1 bar.3) Reject the lot if two (2) bottles test below 12.1 bar.4) Resample the lot if one (1) bottle tests below 12.1 bar. Resample 20 bottles: Reject the lot if two bottles test below 12.1 bar. Thermal ShockSamples representing bottles to be shipped, as tested by the manufacturer, be capable of passing without breaking when tested in accordance with ASTM method C149, which provides that the differential will be 42 C for the first immersion, hot to cold.17 热震 样品应能代表所发运的瓶子、是制造商检测了的,按照ASTM149标准规定的方法,即第一次浸入温差为42而且是由热到冷的方式浸水,没有破损为测试通过。 18. Annealing Samples representing bottles to be shipped will, as tested by the manufacturer, have a temper number of not more than four (4) when tested in accordance with ASTM method C148.19 退火样品应代表所发运的瓶子, 制造商检测了的, 按照ASTMC148方法检测回火后硬度读数不能大于(4)。20. Out-Of-Round Specification - All Bottle SizesThe out-of-round specification for heel, shoulder and body diameters is calculated using the +/- heel / shoulder diameter tolerance shown on the individual bottle drawings:Ex. 12LNNR: Heel/shoulder diameter target = 62.0 mm +1.6 mm -1.2 mmThe O-O-R specification = 1.6 mm +1.2 mm = 2.8 mmIn addition, Anheuser-Busch, Inc. requires that glass plants react to normal production O-O-R readings of 2.0 mm and greater in the heel/shoulder contact and body diameter as soon as possible. This would include notifying the hot end to take corrective action so that quantities of ware with readings 2.0 mm or greater are minimized.Bottles with obvious gross sunken body sidewall panels are unacceptable.20 不圆度标准所有尺寸瓶子 瓶跟、瓶肩不圆度标准是用各图纸所标示的瓶跟瓶肩公差数值相加而得:例如:12LNNR:瓶跟瓶肩直径目标值62.0 mm +1.6 mm -1.2 mm则不圆度标准1.6 mm +1.2 mm = 2.8 mm另外,AB公司要求玻瓶厂对瓶跟瓶肩接触点和瓶身直径不圆度读数为2.0毫米及以上的常规产品尽快作出反应。 这包括通知热端采取行动更正以保证不圆度读数为2.0毫米及以上的产品最小化。 21. Overflow Capacity (optional method)When testing overflow capacity on ABI bottles, the following procedure may be used.
