Learn to greet people.Step 1. Warm-up1. Get the students ready for class. Ask them to take out their books, exercise-books and school things. Draw four lines on the blackboard.2. Say: Now class begins! Stand up, please! Sit down, please! Use gestures to help the students practice several times. Then ask the monitor to say “Stand up”.Step 2. Make an introductionGood morning/afternoon, class. I am your English teacher. My name is You can call me Mr. /MissPractice “Good morning/afternoon.”in class, groups, rows and individuals. Step 3. Presentation1. Present the following dialogue with the students.T: Good morning, class!Ss: Good morning, Mr. /Miss!T: Good morning, (Name)S: Good morning, Mr. /Miss! 2. Start again the greeting between the teacher and the class. T: Good morning, class!Ss: Good morning, Mr. /Miss!Monitor: Stand up.S: Good morning, Mr. /Miss!T: Sit down, please. Step 4. Practice1. Practice this dialogue with some students.T: Good morning.Ss: Good morning.T: My name is What is your name?S: My name isT: How are you?S: I am fine, thanks.2. Get the students to practice in pairs. Then do this chain-drill.A and B:Good morning.Good morning.I am What is your name?My name isHow are you?I am fine, thank you.Step 5. 1b Presentation 1. Use the cards to teach letters Aa-Hh. Tell the students that we use a falling tone when pronouncing a single letter. But we use a rising tone except the last one when reading a list letters. 2. Use the cards to check them in random order. Ask the students to memorize the letters.3. Show the writing of the letters on the blackboard, both big and small letters.4. SectionA.2b. Look at the picture 1a. Find the big letters for these small letters. Then check the answers Step 6. ListeningAsk the students listen and number the letters Section A.2c. According to the order of letters 1. Get the students to repeat after the recording.2. Ask the students to write Aa-Hh letters in their notebooks.Step 7. Group work 1. The teacher explains the rules of the game to the students. Make sure all the students understand the rules.2. Work in groups to role play the game in the front. They should shake hands when saying “How are you?” Step 2. Practice 1. Practice the conversation then do in pairs.A: Good morning B: Good morningA: How are you?B: Im fine, thanks. How are you?A: Im OK.2. Practice the second dialogue then do in pairs.A: Good afternoonB: Good afternoonA: ImWhat is your name?B: My names.A: How are you, ?B: Im fine, thanks. How are you?A: Im OK.3. Practice the third dialogue and do in pairs. A: Good evening B: Good evening,Step 3. Listening Practice listening and circle the names you hear. Section A 4a1. Tell students they will hear a conversation. People greet to each other. Circle the names you hear. Then play the recording. Students listen the first time. Students only listen. 2. Play the recording again and try to circle the names that they hear (4a). 3. Check up the answers. Then let students once more, number the pictures 1-3 (4b)4. Play the recording, let the students repeat after the recording. Then practice reading the conversation. Step 4. 4c Pair work1. Practice the conversations in activity 4b with your partner.2. Get the students to make a conversation in pairs. Pay attention to change the names to their own. Give some help if they need. 3. Get some pairs to work in class.Step 5. RevisionReview the letters from A to H. Pay attention to the pronunciation of each letter. Step 6. Homework 1. Write the letters on their exercise books. 2. Revise the conversations in 4bPeriod 3Teaching aims:1. Learn the names in the western country.2. Learn to tell whether a name is a girls or a boy.3. Greeting each other.Teaching procedures: Step 1. Revision1. Check up the homework.2. Get some students to read Aa-Hh with a rising tone then with a falling tone.3. Greet some friends by using Hi, Hello, Good morning, Good afternoon, and Good eveningStep 2. Presentation 1. Teach the song “Section B.5” Get the whole class to sing it,then the boys, the girls and some individuals. 2. Listen to the conversation. Then practice with your partner. Tell students they will hear a conversation. People greet to each other. Pay attention to the tone you hear. Then play the recording. Students listen the first time. Students only listen. Play the recording again, let the students read the conversations after the recording. Then practice reading the conversation by themselves. Step 3. Choose an English name for yourself. Write your name on a card Get as many English names as possible, let all the students choose an English name that they like. The English name will be the name she/he uses in English classes.Step 4. 2b Group work Use your English names and greet each other. Give students several minutes to practice it. Teacher will walk around the class. If students need help, give them a hand.Step 5. 3a 3b Listening and practice 3a1. Listen and draw lines between the letters you hear. 2. Check it to see what it is like. 3b3. Match the big letters with the small letters.Step 7. Homework1. Copy the letters Aa-Hh on the exercise book. 2.
