田：Today wed like to introduce you some culture differences between China and western countries. And we will act some situations happening in real life.马：These situations can give you a clear impression on cultural differences .Now lets start our show. Situation 1：Introducing a person田：I am a manager from a college.马：I am a newly coming teacher from America .And thats my first time to be introduced to everybody.田：Ladies and gentlemen, Im very glad to introduce you a very pretty girl, Miss Gray .She has brown hair and blue eyes. She is a very good teacher from the USA.马：oh，that made me embarrassed.田：when Chinese people introduce a newcomer ,they tend to say some good words such as beautiful, great ,good and so on .But Americans think you shouldnt make any comments on them even though you speak highly of them.马：From that situation ,we can see what embarrassed the American teach are the word pretty good and the comment on her appearance .under that situation we should pay more attention on a persons status,educational background ,and so on.田：if we change pretty good and the comment on appearance into experiences and educational background ,the introduction will become objective and acceptable. And we change that into this.田:Ladies and gentlemen, Im very glad to introduce you a new teacher from the USA., Miss May Gray. She is a doctor of American Literature with experience of teaching English as a Foreign Language for five years .Lets welcome her. Situation 2: Care for others田：Im a teacher from America.马：Im her Chinese colleague .马：You look so pale. Whats the matter?田：Im feeling sick. A cold , maybe.马：Go and see the doctor. Drink more water. Did you take any pills? Chinese medicine works wonderful. Would you like to try? Put on more clothes. Have a good rest.田：oh ,come on .You are not my mother, are you? 田：From that situation we know that Americans think their self independence should be respected .And they usually think they look weak and their ability are doubted if taken care of by someone they are not very close to.马：So you shouldnt make her feel you look down upon her ability when you give her some advices. Americans usually say Im sorry to hear that. Take care of yourself. I hope youll be better soon. and you dont have to teach them how to do.田:Chinese often give suggestions to show they care for you with the tone of brother sister or parents and relatives ,but that doesnt work in America. Situation 3: Helping others田：Im an old American professor 马：Im her Chinese student.田：Im crossing the road with my walking stick.马：oh ,its professor Tian, maybe she needs my help. (走上前扶住田)hello，professor Tian. You look weak.田:What do you mean? Do you think that Im old and useless? Do you think that I cant even walk across a road? Are you doubting my ability? You just go ahead, and I dont need your help.马：Im sorry ,I just want to help you .田：In this situation，we can see that Chinese tend to give a hand without asking if needed while Americans always ask first.马：Americans usually dont do things they think they cant .If you help her without asking her if needed,she will think you are doubting her ability. 田：So we can hardly see an old American was helped
