It also acts as a guide to operators in adjusting their reagent additions in order to maximise their output.1.0SAMPLING1.1EQUIPMENT1.1.1Sampling scoop - 200mm x 40mm1.1.2Sample bucket - 10 litres capacity with lid1.1.3Plastic bag - 400mm x 300mm 1.2PROCEDURE1.2.1Using a sampling scoop cut across the stream of a free falling belt material at the head pulley from each of the working (running) mills and transfer the whole of the scooped sample into a well labeled sample bucket. Cover it with lid to avoid contamination (note 1 and 3). 1.2.2Repeat the above steps every thirty(30) minutes until a two (02) hourly composite sample is obtained. (note 2)1.2.3A sample label indicating date, period, material type and samplers name, is placed together with the sample into a plastic bag and submitted to the sample preparation section for subsequent preparation. 2.0SAMPLE PREPARATION.2.1EQUIPMENT 2.1.1Roller crusher No. 1 (primary) and No. 2 (secondary)2.1.2Wooden block - 150mm x 60mm x 50mm2.1.3Rotatory divider - six way splitter2.1.4Rolling mat - 600mm x 600mm2.1.5Sample tray - 800mm x 500mm2.1.6Sieb mill with pot of capacity 420cc2.1.7Drying oven with heating capacity between 100 - 110oC2.2PROCEDURE2.2.1Spread the sample (from 1.2.3) on a sample tray with an identification label and oven dry it for at least thirty(30) minutes.2.2.2Cool the sample and pass it through roller crusher No.1(primary) and No. 2(secondary) twice in each case.RAMCOZ LUANSHYA LABORATORY ROUTINE SECTION SAMPLING AND SAMPLE PREPARATION METHODSPAGE 02 OF 02REVISION NO. 0ISSUE DATE:METHOD NO:SSP-01ISSUE NO.: ORIGINALISSUE DATE: 13 JAN 2000SAMPLING AND SAMPLE PREPARATION OF BELT (BALL MILL) FEEDAPPROVED BYAUTHORIZED BY2.2.3Using a wooden block, hand crush the sample to break the flakes made by the roller crushers.2.2.4Using a six way rotatory divider, split the sample into six portions. Collect from one small segment a working (routine) sample. From the opposite small segment collect it as a coarse reserve sample from which a check sample is made to assess splitting, sample preparation errors and a requested reprepared repeat sample. Discard sample from other segments. 2.2.5Pulverise working (routine) sample for three (03) minutes in a sieb mill. Blend the sample using a rolling mat and roll for not less than ten (10) times. 2.2.6Split the sample into two (02), pack one half into a well labeled sample packet or container and submit it for analysis. Reserve the other as two (02) hourly fines reserve for daily composite preparation. Notes(1)When cutting the sample ensure that the sample is full and no samples should be taken from a stopped (non moving) moving belt.(2)At Baluba section cut the sample as the material falls freely into the mill from the conveyor belt. At Luanshya section cut the material as it is fed onto conveyor No. 9. All cuts for the mills running should be combined (composited) as one material.(3)At the start of every sampling period the sampler should ensure that the sample bucket is clean before use. (4)To avoid contamination between samples, feeds are prepared in the Feeds/Tails room using a separate mill pot from that of the tailings.(5)When the drying oven in the feeds/tails room is not working use the oven in the mining/geologicals crusher house not the concentrates room.
