Some scientists speculate that Mars may have enjoyed an extended early Period during which rivers, lakes, and perhaps even oceans adorned its surface. A 2003 Mars Global Surveyor image shows what mission specialists think may be a deltaa fan-shaped network of channels and sediments where a river once flowed into a larger body of water, in this case a lake filling a crater in the southern highlands. Other researchers go even further, suggesting that the data provide evidence for large open expenses of water on the early Martian surface. A computer-generated view of the Martian north polar region shows the extent of what may have been an ancient ocean covering much of the northern lowlands. The Hellas Basin, which measures some 3,000 kilometers across and has a floor that lies nearly 9 kilometers below the basins rim, is another candidate for an ancient Martian sea. According to paragraph 3, images of Mars surface have been interpreted as support for the idea that (2) the polar regions of Mars were once more extensive than they are now a large part of the northern lowlands may once have been under water deltas were once a common feature of the Martian landscape the shape of the Hellas Basin has changed considerably over time B。 Most people consider the landscape to be unchanging, but Earth is a dynamic body, and its surface is continually alteringslowly on the human time scale, but relatively rapidly when compared to the great age of Earth (about 4,500 billion years). There are two principal influences that shape the terrain: constructive processes such as uplift, which create new landscape feature, and destructive forces such as erosion, which gradually wear away exposed landforms. According to paragraph 1, which of the following statements is true of changes in Earths landscape? A They occur more often by uplift than by erosion. B They occur only at special times. C They occur less frequently now than they once did. D They occur quickly in geological terms 这道题也是发现选项AC有比较级,属于非常值得怀疑的选项,同时B项有only这个绝对词的出现,同样可疑。
