Unit 4 Global warming 单元教学设计Period 1 Warming up and speaking 周宁一中 叶嫱嫱设计理念 关于global warming 这个话题,学生是既熟悉又陌生。熟悉的是常常听到有关全球变暖的相关新闻报道,影视题材,但陌生的是他们对全球变暖没有一个系统的认识,他们的认识都是片段的,包括本单元的教材安排:对全球变暖的介绍也是分为几个课时来完成,不利于学生的系统掌握。因此,本课时作为本单元的引子,充分调动学生的自主探究能力,做相关的调查研究,旨在激发学生的学习热情,体现学生的主题地位,从起因(what can cause global warming/ How did it come about ?),后果(what will happen if the earth is becoming warmer and warmer )及相关的措施(what can we do about global warming).充分利用现代的多媒体,应用影视资源,美国前副总统的拯救地球的公益视频及美国的灾难片(The Day after Tomorrow),给学生一个视觉上的冲击,旨在充分调动学生的自主探究能力,体现学生的主题地位,并要求学生运用所学的句子进行简单的采访,收集阻止全球变暖的相关建议,并设计公益海报,呼吁人类齐心阻止全球变暖,拯救地球。本节课的亮点就是运用学生的自主探究学习能力和充分开发与运用影视资源。教材分析本单元的中心话题是关于全球变暖。第一篇阅读是关于全球变暖的起因,后果,及专家对利弊持两种不同的看法。第二篇阅读是关于全球变暖我们是否任其自然发展,及该如何阻止全球变暖。于是,我就把这两篇阅读的主要内容整合成一篇Warming up & speaking 的课型,以起因,后果,及阻止全球变暖的措施为一条主线,并展开,目的是激发学生自主探究学习全球变暖的问题的兴趣和能力,通过研究,讨论,让学生对全球变暖的原因,造成的后果及预防措施有个系统的认识,为后面的阅读做好良好的铺垫,有效引导学生关注本单元的话题。学情分析学生已有相关的全球变暖的知识:生物课上学过的环境问题,其中就涉及到全球变暖的问题。学生也有从新闻,网络,影视中了解过相关的知识,只是不能用英语正确地表述。学习方法和技巧运用影视资源,小组探究性研究,讨论。学生个性发展和群体提高:interview and report 是针对语言能力较强的学生,突显其口语,带动全班。Group discussion 是针对全班同学,促使全班都开口说英语,从而达到整体提高。教材的重点,难点重点:了解global warming 的起因,引发的严重后果及预防措施难点:如何让学生理解global warming 的起因及 greenhouse effect 的原理。文化与策略目标 利用图片与多媒体影视画面激起学生对这个话题的深度思考,让学生在自主探究中,合作中互相学习,逐渐唤起学生低碳生活,关注全球变暖,拯救地球。情感与态度目标引导学生对global warming 进行研究性探究学习,了解全球变暖所引发的灾难性后果和保护环境的重要性;从而倡导低碳生活,关注全球变暖。增强节约能源保护环境的意识。Teaching goal Target language :New words and phrases global warming ,greenhouse gas, greenhouse effect ,drought ,flood ,famine , catastrophe,fossil fuel, , deforestation, come about ,Useful expression : How did it come about ? Does it matter if the earth is becoming warmer and warmer ?What can we do about global warming ?Ability goal 1. Enable the students to talk about global warming and express their opinions freely. 2. Let students know how to stop global warming .3. Help the Ss to learn the causes ,effects and solution of global warming 4. Enable the students to use the useful words and expressions in their interviewLearning ability Help the Ss learn how to express their opinions about global warming Help the Ss learn how to discuss and suggest solution to stop global warming Emotion goal 1. Deepen the students sense of protecting the earth .2. Develop the students sense of group cooperation and teamwork.3. Develop the students sense of responsibility towards protecting the environment and saving the energyTeaching methodsResearch study, group discussion , teamwork(interview), Teaching tools Multimedia, microphone Teaching proceduresI. Greeting and lead-inT: Are you cold today ?Ss: Yes, very cold .T: What keeps you warm?Ss: .T: What keeps our earth warm?SS: The gas in the atmosphere is called greenhouse gas.T:Now watch a video , then answer some questions based on it :1. what happened to the ice cream?- Her ice cream melt quickly.2. Who is to blame? (Its none of the foreigners thing)- Global warming3.What happened to the sun ? (Ss tell the story ) .4. Who is to blame for Global warming?-Greenhouse gas .T: How does greenhouse gas work ?Ss: T: So ,today we will learn something about global warming. II. Warming up & speaking Check the homework T: Whats your discoveries about global warming ? ( Group discussion based on their research)(Each group compete against each other for reporting their discoveries ) Causes : T: How did it come about?/What can cause global warming ? Ss report their work freely. Key words: human activity, burning fossil fuel , deforestation, desertification, overgrazing ,overpopulation ,pollution, over reclaim, excessive collect the groundwater ,increase greenhouse gases, global warming, acid rain ,problems : T: What problems will it cause ? (Group discussion ,then the Ss report their work freely .)key words:positive effects1.Make plants grow faster2. Crops will produce more3,Enrich a greater range of animals, including bacteria and virus.T:Make our life better, but also bring more diseasesnegative effects:The sea level to rise, ice melt , droughts, storms/cyclone ,flood , famine, the disappearance of species, desertification, decrease farming land, the spread of diseaseT: Does it matter if the earth is becoming warmer and warmer? Watch a part of the film “The Day after Tomorrow” to check your work. And find out how many deserts in the films.T: This is an advertisement for semir clothing. (Show the advertisement) How cool the spokesperson But , please read its slogan:“我管不了全球变暖,但至少我好看”I dont care about global warming, but at least Im niceT: Whats your opinions about it?Solutions Ss: We shall do something about global warming.So, What can we do about global warming?Role acting (some individual students interview the other students to collect some suggestions to stop global warming)(Report the ways to stop global warming in the front of the class)Collect their work and summarize them by showing them on the screen.The ways to cut down on CO2T: Theres still one thing left out.What is it?Watching and finding :Watch a video (周一我吃素),calling for the Ss to advocate low-carbon life.T: What is it ?Ss :Eat less meat。 Eat Vegetarian Food One Day One Week!
