内江师范学院学生试讲说课稿学 生 试 讲 说 课 稿 院 别: 外 国 语 学 院 专 业: 英 汉 翻 译 班 级: 2012 级 6 班 学生姓名: 胡 霞 学 号: 20120543014 指导教师: 阳 卓 胜2015 年 5月Oral Presentation of the Teaching Plan forModule 2, Senior High III. Teaching Material AnalysisThis is the 2nd period (Reading and Vocabulary) for the 2nd unit in SEFC Book II. The topics are “A Drug Addict and His Story” and “The Dangers of Using Cocaine”. The whole unit focuses on the study of words related to drugs and information about taking drugs and this reading part emphasize the development of students reading abilities, aiming to enable students to have a profound understanding of drugs and have a firm attitude against drugs. The study of the new words and reading skills lays a foundation for the next part, listening and writing. Therefore the study of this period is of great significance to the further English teaching and helps students develop a positive attitude to life to treasure their lives. II. Teaching Objectives1. Language Objectives This period is for Reading and Vocabulary, so students should settle the problems of words and phrases involved in reading. Thats why the language objectives are determined as follows. (1) Words and Phrases: addictive, cannabis, inject, needle, increase, reduce, immediately, blood pressure, break into, drug addict, drug dealer, heart attack and heart rate (2) Sentence Patterns: I used to be a drug addict, I was in terrible pain, I broke into a house and stole a television and a video recorder, now I work in a centre for drug addicts 2. Ability ObjectivesThis period is focused on developing students reading skill, so article understanding is the objective. Besides, learning is for communication, so students should use what they have learned in this period to express their own ideas about drugs, that is, to help them communicate with others in such topics. This is to relate learning to life. So the ability objective is set as follows:(1) Practice reading skills and summarize Article 1 and Article 2 in their own words (2) Use the new words and phrases they have learned to express their opinions (3) Use the brainstorm image to collect writing materials for a topic. 3. Moral Objectives Learning is not for learning itself, but for the purpose of serving our life. In other words, in the process of learning, students should develop proper capabilities for their life in the society and for self-improvement in their life path. So this period morally aims to:(1) Analyze the bad results caused by drugs taking(2) Keep away from drugs and develop healthy habits4. Learning StrategiesPredicting the contents of an article is necessary in reading. This will benefit the students in answering the questions about the material. Meanwhile, guessing the meaning of a new word is also required. Students are required to guess the meaning through analyzing the contexts.5. Cultural Awareness Chinese and English people hold different attitudes towards drugs Language learning is ultimately for communication, yet language use is not only controlled by the linguistic knowledge, but also shaped by the culture in which the language is rooted. This period is to help students realize the difference between English and Chinese in dealing with drugs and say no to drugs.III. Important and Difficult Points The theme of this period is Reading and Vocabulary, so the important point should be related to article understanding. Developing a “no-drug” attitude is the final end of studying. As a result, the important and difficult points of this period are set as follows:1. Find the topic sentences of the articles and analyze the two articles 2. Gain more information about dangers of drug addiction3. To develop a “no-drug” attitude IV. Teaching Methods1. Teaching Methods: Task-based Language TeachingLanguage is for communication, so the ultimate goal of foreign language teaching is to enable students to use the foreign language in work or life when necessary. To fulfill the purpose, learning process, learning materials and activities are essential parts: Authentic materials should be introduced into our class, functional activities should be employed in our learning process, and students active participation should be encouraged. Based on this understanding, Task-based Language Teaching is to be adopted in our classroom teaching. It shares a belief that language should be learned as close as possible to how it is used in real life. Language use is often freely in TBLT model. Students are always exposed to English and have more time to experience English. In this way, meaningful tasks and tasks familiar to students can greatly excite students learning enthusiasm and learning interest. Thus learn to use English and use English to learn can best supplement each other and help each other.2. Teaching Aids: multimedia, blackboard, chalksMultimedia represents the convergence of texts, pictures, video and sound into a single form. It is an efficient way used to make the class vivid. This device can help bring students into a class where they can interact with the teacher and the subject. Multimedia teaching is more intuitive than old ways; teachers can simulate situations in real life. In some circumstances teachers even do not have to be there, students will learn by themselves in the class. More importantly, with the help of multimedia, teachers will have more approaches to stimulating students passion of learning.V. Teaching Procedures Step I Lead-in ( 5 minutes) Greetings and Brain Storm to Lead inAfter greeting my students, I will play a game (Brain Storm) with my students to cheer students up for todays study and get all students quickly on tasks, creating an expectation that students will think and participate in the lesson. Step II Introduce the new words (5 minutes) Fluent reading depends on an adequate sight vocabulary, a general knowledge about the target language, some knowledge about the topic, wild knowledge about the world and enough knowledge about text types. In other words, efficient reading begins with a lightening-like automatic recognition of words. This initial process of accurate, rapid and automatic recognition of vocabulary frees ones mind to use other resources. Even if students can try to guess the meaning of unknown words, the condition is that there should be enough known words to provide the necessary context for guessing to take place. Therefore, introducing the new words to our students is the basis for developing their reading skills.Step III Fast reading (5 minutes)This part is a pre-reading activity. By pre-activity, we mean tasks that students do before they read the text in detail. Such activities could be pooling existing knowledge about the topic, predicting the contents of the text, skimming or scanning the text or parts of the text for certain purpose. The activity used for this part is skimming, which means reading quickly to get the main idea of the text. By doing this, students are supposed to choose the right titles for the two articles, which are “A Drug Addict and His Story” and “The Dangers of Using Cocaine”. Meanwhile, the purpose of fast reading is to facilitate while-reading activities and make their reading more directed and easier.Step IV Careful reading (24 minutes) Different texts offer opportunities for different kinds of exploitation. Yet a reading passage in a traditional reading comprehension textbook has generally been exploited by means of multiple choice questions, T/F questions, open questions, paraphrasing, and translation. In this section, we will focus on the process of understanding and four activities to help students understand the content and structure of the text as well as understand the authors purpose in writing the text and train readers reading skills. What students are supposed to are as follows:1、 Read Article 1 and Article 22、 Complete the missing sentences and words or phrases3、 Answer four questions based on the passages4、 Decide if the sentences are true or false Step V Discussion and Summary (5 minutes) A discussion impresses students deeply with the dangers of taking drugs as well as help them develop a firm “no-drug” attitude. A summary is necessary for calling students attention to the important points settled in class. It can also help students memorize better what they should master through this class. Of course, if they still tent to have questions about todays task, they can put forward the questions, for the whole class to have a discussion or for the students to learn
