Our habit and behaviors have been changed, so do our minds, but in a notorious way. Education is one kind of life preparation during which a student can equip himself with professional skills as well as moral standards, which can help him survive in the society and on the other hand perform his contribution. While perfectly agreeing that to praise positive actions is an essential part of an effective education, I think the education will no more function effectively if it ignores the negative deeds.First of all, praising positive actions serves well to encourage the student or employee and inform him “what is right”. Biologists have reached the conclusion that animals tend to repeat the action after which comes a direct pleasure. For we human being, also a kind of animal, praise acts as one kind of such pleasure that can encourage us to repeat positive actions, even, take advantage of our creativity to further them. In the process, the student or employee gets entrenched what method is efficient, what attitude is positive, and what behavior is moral and responsible. Equipped with high spirits and canonical principals, the student or employee can march his way in reasonable pace; and at the same time, a great part of the aim of education can be achieved.However, criticizing and disabusing negative actions imparts to the student what is bad and how to correct it, which is another significant part of education. Biological analogy can be taken again to explain the relationship between negative actions and education. While animals can by instinct avoid doing the same actions which have hurt them before, we human being will try our best not to repeat mistakes that has ever generated displeasure and harm, partly out of instinct and more out of social responsibility. The various methods of criticizing negative actions, (blame, scolds, even certain punishment), make the student realizes what information is poisonous, what way is deviating, and what behavior is immoral; Further, it is through disabusing negative performance the student learns how to handle such cases in sensible way next time. Under the guidance of disciplines entrenched by criticizing and disabusing negative actions, the student or employee can avoid committing the same mistakes.Whats more, the effects of praise have a lot to do with criticism and disabusing negative actions. Firstly, though praised, the student or employee will be encouraged less if the wrong-doing counterpart receives no criticism. For example, the employee who goes to work on time every day will perhaps be praised by the manager; however, if another employee goes to office always late and never be punished even criticized, the sedulous one will fell unbalanced and hardly be encouraged. Secondly, the students realization of what is right will be enhanced if he has done something wrong and been disabused. Let me Take as example my personal experience of which I believe every student have similar counterpart: when I was in my junior middle school, I always get confused in the process of my mathematics learning. My math teacher advised me to gather together all the exercises that were wrong and disabused into a notebook, and read the notebook carefully. It works. Just like a thread through all the complexity, the notebook had helped me to recognize the complicated formulas and the methods of using them, which were the hardest things for me to memorize before.In sum, if we want to reach good educational effects, we must pay as much attention to negative actions as that of positive ones. In that case, the education can bring to the student or employee more knowledge that is important for his future, and benefit the society in the long run.It is a good way to praise positive actions for the purpose of teaching, but negative actions should be pointed out instead of being ignored. Because people who take negative actions may not notice that those actions are not socially accepted or encouraged, as a result they may repeat these negative actions again and again. Eventually, loss of social wealth may result from those accumulated negative actions.The ultimate goal of teaching is not only helping social members to develop intellectually and meet their thirst for knowledge, but also preparing them to become good citizens who follow laws and moral rules, thus maintaining the stability and functioning of the whole society. To serve this purpose, actions which lead to the gains of general social welfare would be defined as positive actions while actions which go the opposite way would be defined as negative ones. For example, in Canada citizens who happen to obtain lost possessions of others are encouraged to report this to the police station. If the police successfully find the owner of the lost possession, the citizen would be praised and a good record would be added to his credit, with which he can borrow more money from banks when it is necessary. If the police cant find out who the owner is in a given period of time, the lost possession would be transferred to the citizen who found it. Thus the citizen obtains the lost possession in a legal way. So the action of returning lost possessions is praised in this specific method, which undoubtedly improves the general welfare of the whole society.On the other hand, negative actions such as stealing, lying and cheating should not be ignored. There is no doubt that stealing results in not only unjustified transfer of private possessions, but also the severe tension and even hostility between social members, which clearly deteriorates the stability of the whole society. Thats why, as far as I know, in every modern society the action of stealing is legally prohibited and punished. When it comes to lying, some may defend that under certain circumstances lying results in positive consequences. A good example is concealing a patients health information to keep his good mood, thus improving his condition or extending his life span. But generally speaking, lying serves as a tool of deceiving and plotting most of the time. In modern economy, lying would directly cause the asymmetric information between buyers and sellers. The consequence would be the decreasing of one sides welfare in transaction, followed by the loss of general societal welfare. As a result, lying is denounced morally in every society. For the same reason, cheating is also discouraged. These negative actions have one characteristic in common that they all eventually lead to the loss of societal welfare. In the final analysis, to achieve the educational goal of teaching people to maintain the function of society and improve the general welfare of the whole society, positive actions should be praised and honored while negative actions should be discouraged and punished if necessary, instead of being ignored as the speaker claims.教育:限制思想?Nowadays, the majority of people consider education as the necessary route towards success. We cannot imagine what will the world be if all the parents stay at home, rather than go working, and teach their children day and night. In that case, the children will not absorb the knowledge and thinking mode in all the fields, for their parents are not and cannot be omniscient; moreover, the whole world will decay in a couple of decades . On the other hand, people may think that education via internet is an ideal way, but it will face other problems such as the development and popularity of information technology, as well as self-control of all the students. Only through the college of daily life, by observing, thinking, expecting, exploring and summarizing, can we emancipate our hearts and souls.2I partially agree with the speaker that formal education tends to restrain our minds and spirits. But if we combine the new methods, which aimed at free the mind and the spirit, with the formal education, the scene will be different.Formal education does restrain peoples minds and spirits. It is the product of the education system which has formed for several thousand years. Even it has not stopped being changed since it has born, its original aim, trains people to obtain the ability to live in the world, does not changed. In this rapid developing world, everything could not be perfect forever. So does education. It can not suit for every century. In the 20th century, when Bill Gates is an undergraduate in Harvard University, no one dare say that the education of Harvard had been old. And most of the people can not understand Bill Gates quitting from Harvard. In the following years, by the Windows operation system, he changes the computer from a complex machine to an easy used toy. People could use the computer easily even they do not know English. Now, Bill has become the wealthiest man in the world. Everyone has to admit that he was right, and no one dare say that if he did not quit, he would also achieve the same success.However, on one hand, formal education is an essential force in the society to make people literate. Even if there are other ways to educate people without limits, formal education is the most effective and suitable method for most ordinary people. As above mentioned, its aim is to train people to obtain the ability to live in the world. Education is based on the experience of the predecessor, so it is common that it could not disencumber the old and outdated methods. And it will inevitably demand people to comply with the conventionality. But should we discard the formal education? No. Actually, it is main way to cultivate people to serve the world. Otherwise, no one will go to the university, or Bill Gates will not allow anyone graduates from the university to enter into his company, Microsoft.On the other hand, even if the formal education restrains our minds, we can help it change to the ideal condition as we expect by combining it with our own methods. Formal education is not unchangeable. If the new elements are added into it properly, the new form will make the world more prosperous. Albert Einstein is famous for his great principles, but he also is the student of education one hundred years ago. Once the atmosphere changes, everything has to make the respondent changes. So does the education. What can we do? Discover the new trends of the world. And combine them with the new knowledge to form the new methods. Then add them to the text book. It will help the students to breathe the fresh air. Does this enough? No. If we want to make free atmosphere, it is necessary to encourage the students to think without traditional restrictions. With these procedures, we could prospect the new education to be more apt to simulate the new inventions to the world.In sum, I think we should change the formal education to be adapt to the new circumstance, but not discard it.3We are fortunate to survive through the long and tough history. It is education that allows us to pass down our knowledge gained through hard work and imaginative thinking to the next generation. Only through education can we become a full man with good habits to think independently andfreely, and simultaneouosly a man of effective action.) With the purpose mentioned above, we have been making our endless efforts through the infinate history to advance education methods and to establish a well-conducted system to make students learn better. Famous educators and their collegues have innovated and are innovating a myraid of ways of effective educating. It is believed that an effective educating consists of some factors such as letting students think in their own way, allowing them to act according to their mind, offering them opportunities to investgate into certain problems in which they are interested and making them feel free to challenge those pundits. Only in these ways can the learners gain not only knowledges but also critical and creative thinking habits which is more important in their whole lives.- The significance of creative thinking, which we all agree, is that when people form that habit, they are likely to become confident in front of problems or even danger and more often than not, they can at last come up with practical ideas to solve those difficulties. Let us here discuss further to search for the real reason of it. It is obvious that a student who used to believe in whatever he hear or see and follow whatever he learned through education will be nervous when faced with situations he has never seen. Trying to copy things done by other people without adding his respective mind will cause a fiasco and many fiascos if he does not change. So it is vital to notice that a free spirit means a lot, at least it can make you different from other people and avoid unnecessary failures.Today, however, it seems our education system is evolving into one that restrains our minds.
