Analysis of the teaching material: This is the first part of unit 5,7B. It mainly talks about abilities. Students are required to learn about some abilities.Analysis of students: The junior students like to experience the sense of success. So they should be encouraged to be active in class to express their opinions freely. In this class, students can enlarge their knowledge. They are required to learn abilities and also to develop their sense of helping others.Teaching Objectives:Knowledge aims:1. To learn about peoples abilities. 2. To talk about things we can do for others in daily life.Ability aims:1. To understand the comic strip.2. To develop students ability of speaking.Moral aims:1. To make students be polite and helpful.2. To generate ideas about ways to care for and help othersTeaching proceduresStep 1 Presenting1I will show the students a picture and ask: What is he doing? He is playing basketball. Who is he? He is Yao Ming. He can play basketball. Its his ability.2I will show the students another picture and ask: Who is she? She is Yang Liping. What can she do? She can dance very well. Dancing is her ability. 3. I will show the students the picture and ask: Who is she? She is Lady Gaga. What can she do? She can sing. Singing is her ability.? 4. I will show the students? the picture and ask: Who is he? He is superman. What can he do? he can fly. Do you think there is any super dog in the world?Lets listen to the tape and check if you are right.Step2 Listening 1.Play the tape of comic strip. Before listening, ask questions:What does Eddie want to do? Can Eddie fly?Play the tape and ask students to read together.Then answer the questions. 2. Act out the dialogue in roles. Give the students some time to practice in pairs. The students can modify the dialogue to make it more interesting then act it out Step 3 Group workI will say: People have different abilities. Some people use their abilities to help others. Would you like to help others if you can? What can we do for others?I will ask students to talk about what we can do for others.A: What can you do?B: I can What about you?A: I canB: Can you ?A: Yes, I can./ No, I cant. We can help mum or dad wash the dishes.We can help our teachers collect the exercise books every morning.We can also help the elderly clean up their rooms.Step 4 Practicing I will say If you want to help more people or do more for others, I think you can join the Helping Hands Club. Would you like to know about the club? Here are some pictures of it. Lets have a look.Let students look at the pictures on Page77, then I will ask: what are they doing? Let students to read the sentences on Page77.Ask students to match them and then check the answer.Step 5 Pair work Develop students sense of helping others.I will encourage students to make a new dialogue and then ask them to take turns to talk about what they did for others, and what they can do for others in the future.Step 6 Consolidation 1.
