源于美国的少儿口语专家“阿斯顿英语”教育理念的深入理解1. 遵循人脑语言形成的自然规律施教听说领先,读写辅助阿斯顿崇尚自然施教,反对填鸭式教育,反对揠苗助长、反对只求高分不能学以致用,为的是将英语植入学习者的大脑。就像小树必须将根深深扎入土壤才能长成参天大树一样,只有将正确的英语语感植入学习者的大脑,才能做到用英语去思维,才能让英语语感和汉语语感一样成为人脑的一种功能,而不是只做到肤浅的记忆,今天学明天忘。我们是这样做到的:1) 和学习母语一样,先让“听”来触动大脑的感觉,再让“说”来反馈“听”的信息,能听会说之后,读写学习就会相对容易,同时“读”和“写”又能促进和加深记忆。2) 英语首先是工具,学来就用,越用越熟悉,不能当学科去研究,那将越研究越糊涂。3) 遵循语言在人脑形成的自然过程,训练学习者大脑形成英语语感。语感如乐感,人脑对乐曲的识别全凭感觉,乐谱只不过是对不同音感的符号标识,人脑对语言的识别也是全凭感觉。这种感觉是人脑的功能。2 根据学习者所处环境设置的目前世界上最为先进的ESL教学理念第二语言特征的理解记忆+母语化的思维习惯训练真正的“母语化”教学就好像婴儿学母语一样,全部的交流只能用一种语言完成,母亲怎么说孩子就怎么说。这样的学习效果当然是最理想的。如果学习者移民到英语母语国家,也是可以做到的。但是,对于生活在中国的孩子,单纯的英语母语教学却不能做到和美国孩子一样的效果。而中国学校里惯用的语法、词汇题海式学习法,让学习者或者高分低能,或者越学越复杂,或者哑巴英语,记得不如忘得多。1) 中国孩子只有在课堂中使用英语交流,其它时间全部用汉语母语交流。这样一来,即使想在短短的课堂时间里做到老师怎么说学生就怎么说,也要依靠记忆的帮助,单纯的模仿学习如果达不到一定的频率,很容易遗忘。2) 汉语语言和英语语言属于不同的语系。对于中国孩子来说,短时间内的单纯模仿学习很难做到自然而然正确使用复杂的英语语法。3) 如果像中国学校里的学习一样,让学生强行记忆英语语法和词汇,多年的实践已经证明,那样只能让学生感到错综复杂,记忆困难,永远也无法形成正确的英语语感。阿斯顿英语的整个教学体系是按照“第二语言特征的理解记忆”+“母语化的思维习惯训练”来设置的。1) 教材体系按照第二语言学习规律、人脑遗忘规律、不同学习阶段的使用频率需求,等进行编写,即句型、词汇、语法按照从易到难,从常用到不常用;语境从简单到复杂;学习内容从初现,到重现,到综合再现。2) 第二语言特征就是语法、归类词汇等的学习,是母语在人脑形成过程中不需要专门学习的,而对于外语学习者来说,这些规律的学习是有助于帮助理解语言规律的,从而起到帮助记忆的作用。3) 母语化的思维习惯训练是建立在学习者对语言规律有一定的理解和记忆的基础上,由母语国家教师选择适合的语境,或设计适合的课堂活动,对这些规律进行听力和口语的强化训练,从而让学习者习惯这些规律的使用,也就是形成正确的思维习惯,即语感。3. 根据学习者的年龄、人脑的遗忘规律设计不同系列的教材和教学方法“亲亲”、“乐园”、“互动”、“活力”“流畅”,五大系列教材配套五大教法体系,对应4岁-18岁不同年龄的学习者; 阿斯顿英语针对不同年龄的学习者编写适合他们年龄特征的系列教材,同时也根据学习者不同年龄的特点,设计适合他们年龄特征的教学方法。阿斯顿亲亲英语通过较多地调动孩子感官和动手来实现培养英语语感(4岁-5岁)。阿斯顿英语乐园通过这个年龄孩子喜爱的游戏形式实现英语教学(5岁-7岁)。阿斯顿互动英语课堂游戏成分逐渐减少,师生间的互动活动逐级增加(7岁-14岁)。阿斯顿活力英语场景式练习是这个阶段的主要训练方法(11岁-16岁)。阿斯顿流畅英语较复杂语境的设计,以实现流利程度和词汇量的大幅度提升(12岁-18岁)。Further understanding of Aston English education theoryOur teaching follows the natural development of language within the human brain - Listening and speaking are primary communication skills, with reading and writing as later developed secondary supportive skillsAston promotes natural learning, as opposed to artificial cramming or speed memorization teaching. Its opposed to learning for the sake of passing tests which leave students devoid of any real language skills.We aim to plant English into the brains of learners, like the roots of trees this must be planted deeply into the soil to grow big. Learners will not be able to think in English, like their native language unless the right English language sense is planted into the brain of learners. Its not as simple as memorizing for the sake of learning it today and then forgetting it tomorrow. We achieve this by: As with learning a mother language, listening skills develop first, followed by speaking which comes from the information built using listening. After being able to listen and speak, reading and writing will become comparatively easier, at the same time reading and writing can also help reinforce the language better.English ultimately is a tool of communication, to learn it, is to use it, the more you use it, the better you know it. Studying English purely as a subject body of knowledge rather than a communication tool will turn learning into something difficult and tiresome.We train learners brains to develop an overall sense of language mimicking a natural process. A brains sense of language is in some ways similar to its sense of music. The human brain recognizes music completely by feeling, understanding of meaning is holistic and the process often happens unconsciously. Our ESL teaching environment is set up to take advantage of combining 2 aspects - Conscious explanation and practice of the characteristics of a new second language + practicing use of the language in native speaker like ways. Real “mother tongue” techniques in learning a second language resemble how a baby learns their mother tongue. All communication is done in the one language only, the baby mimics whatever the mother says. This is the most ideal way to learn a language. A learner will be able to do this if they immigrate to an English speaking country at a young age of course. However children in China cant achieve this like American children can as they dont have access to the full immersion language environment.Using traditional grammar and vocabulary based teaching characterized by excessive assignments, and a strong bias toward blind repetition and memorization techniques can enable the learners to get high scores in exams but leaves them unable to communicate as the language learning becomes more and more complicated. Children in China usually only have the chance to use English in the classroom, the rest of time they use Chinese. So if they want to master the courses content in a short period of time, they often have to rely on memorizing new language and doing very controlled practices, this leads to them easily forgetting what they have learned.Asian and European languages have numerous differences. For Asian students to use complicated English grammar naturally and correctly with only a relatively short period practice is very challenging. In schools in China, Students are often asked to memorize new grammar and vocabulary.
