Cobb:Thats not true(那不一定).Saito:Can you do it?Cobb: Are you offering me a choice? Because I can find my own way to square things(正直,公平的行为) with Cobol(康布).Saito:Then you do have a choice(选择).Cobb:Then I choose to leave, sir.Saito:Tell the crew(机组) where you want to go. Hey, Mr. Cobb. How would you like to go home? To America. To your children.Cobb: You cant fix(固定,办到) that. Im doing what you taught me.Oldman:I never taught you to be a thief.Cobb:No, you taught me to navigate(驾驶,操纵,引导) peoples minds. But after what happened, there werent a whole lot of legitimate(合法的) ways for me to use that skill.Oldman: What are you doing here, Dom?Cobb:I think I found a way home. Its a job for some very, very powerful people. People who I believe can fix(撤销) my charges(指控) permanently(永远的). But I need your help.Oldman:Youre here to corrupt(使堕落) one of my brightest(最亮的) and best.Cobb:You know what Im offering. Let them decide for themselves.Oldman:Money.Cobb:Not just Money. You remember. Its the chance to build cathedrals(大教堂), entire(整个的) cities.things that never existed(存在).things that couldnt exist in the real world.Oldman:So you want me to let someone else follow you into your fantasy(幻想)?Cobb:They dont actually(实际的) come into the dream. They just design(设计) the levels and teach them to the dreamers. Thats all.Oldman:Design it yourself.Cobb: Mal wont let(阻止) me.Oldman:Come back to reality, Dom. Please. Reality.Cobb: Those kids, your grandchildren . theyre waiting for their father to come back home. Thats their reality. And this job, this last job, thats how I get there(回家). I would not be standing here if I knew any other way.I need an architect(建筑师,筑梦师) whos as good as I was.Oldman:Ive got somebody better.Oldman: Ariadne(阿里阿德涅?)? Id like you to meet(认识) Mr. Cobb.Ariadne:Pleased to meet you.Oldman:If you have a few moments, Mr. Cobb has a job offer hed like to discuss(谈谈) with you.Ariadne: A work placement(实习)?Cobb:Not exactly.Cobb:I have a test for you.Ariadne: Youre not gonna tell me anything first?Cobb: Before I describe(描述) the job, I have to know you can do it.Ariadne: Why?Cobb: Its not, strictly speaking(严格的来说), legal(合法的). You have two minutes to design a maze(迷宫) that it takes one minute to solve.Cobb:Stop. Again. Stop. Youre gonna have to do better than that.Cobb:Thats more like it(这个还差不多).Cobb: They say we only use a fraction(部分) of our brains true potential(潜能). Now, thats when were awake(但那是指我们醒着的时候). When were asleep, our mind can do almost anything.Ariadne: Such as?Cobb: Imagine youre designing a building. You consciously(自觉得) create each aspect(方面). But sometimes, it feels like its almost creating itself, if you know what I mean.Ariadne: Yeah, like Im discovering it.Cobb: Genuine(真实的,纯粹的) inspiration(灵感), right? Now, in a dream, our mind continuously (连续不断地)does this. We create and perceive(察觉,理解) our world simultaneously(同时). And our mind does this so well that we dont even know its happening(意识不到这个过程). That allows us to get right in the middle of that process(这样一来,我们就能直接进入这个过程).Ariadne:How?Cobb: By taking over the creating part(有我们来创造). Now, this is where I need you. You create the world of the dream(梦境). We bring the subject(主题,目标) into that dream, and they fill(充满) it with their subconscious(潜意识).Ariadne:How could I ever acquire(获得) enough detail to make them think that its reality?Cobb: Well, dreams, they feel real while were in them, right? Its only when we wake up that we realize something was actually(实际上) strange(奇怪的). Let me ask you a question. You never really remember the beginning of a dream, do you? You always wind up(结束,卷起) right in the middle of(在什么之中) whats going on.Ariadne;I guess, yeah.Cobb:So how did we end up here?Ariadne:Well, we just came from the, uh.Cobb: Think about it, Ariadne. How did you get here? Where are you right now?Ariadne: Were dreaming?Cobb: Youre in the middle of the workshop, sleeping. This is your first lesson in shared dreaming. Stay calm(镇静点).Ariadne: If its just a dream, then why are you.?Cobb: Because its never just a dream, is it? And a face full of glass hurts like hell(生疼). When youre in it, it feels real.Arthur: Thats why the military(军队) developed dream sharing. It was a training program for soldiers to shoot, stab(刺) and strangle(勒死) each other .and then wake up.Ariadne:How did architects(建筑师,筑梦师) become involved(涉及)?Arthur: Well, someone had to design the dreams, right?Cobb; Why dont you give us another five minutes?Ariadne: Five minutes? What.? We were talking for, like, at least an hour.Cobb: In a dream, your mind functions more quickly .therefore(因此) time seems to feel more slow.Arthur: Five minutes in the real world gives you an hour in the dream.Cobb:Why dont you see what you can get up to in five minutes?Cobb:Youve got the basic layout(布局). Bookstore, caf(咖啡馆). Almost everything else is here too.Ariadne: Who are the people?Cobb: Projections(投影) of my subconscious(潜意识).Ariadne: Yours?Cobb: Yes. Remember, you are the dreamer. You build this world. I am the subject(目标). My mind populates(居住于,操控) it. You can literally(逐字的) talk to my subconscious(潜意识). Thats one of the ways we extract(提取) information from the subject.Ariadne: How else do you do it(还有什么别的方法)?Cobb: By creating something secure(保护,安全), like a bank vault or a jail(监狱). The mind automatically(自动的) fills(填充,存储) it with information its trying to protect. You understand?Ariadne: Then you break in and steal it?Cobb: Well.Ariadne: I guess I thought that the dream space(梦境) would be all about the visual(视觉的) .but its more about the feel of it(更重要的是去感觉). My question is what happens when you start messing(干扰,混淆) with the physics(物理学) of it all? Its something(很厉害), isnt it(是吧)?Cobb:Yes, it is.Ariadne: Why are they all looking at me?Cobb: Because my subconscious(潜意识) feels that someone else is creating this world. The more you change things, the quicker the projections(映射) start to converge(聚合,涌向) on you.Ariadne: Converge(涌向)?Cobb:They sensed the foreign(外来的,入侵的) nature of the dreamer. They attack(攻击), like white blood cells(白血球) fighting an infection(影响,传染病).Ariadne:What, theyre gonna attack us?Cobb:No, actually, Just you.Cobb: This is great, but Im telling you, if you keep changing things like this. Ariadne: Jeez(天呀), mind telling your subconscious to take it easy(就不能让你的潜意识冷静点)?Cobb:Its my subconscious(潜意识). Remember? I cant control(控制) it.Cobb:Very impressive(佩服).Cobb:I know this bridge. This place is real, isnt it?Ariadne:Yeah, I cross it every day to get to the college.Cobb: Never re-create(创造) places from your memory. Always imagine new places.Ariadne:You draw from stuff you know(你总得借用熟悉的东西吧), right?Cobb:Only use details(细节). A streetlamp(路灯) or a phone booth(电话亭). Never entire(整个的) areas(区域).Ariadne:Why not?Cobb: Building a dream from your memory.is the easiest way to lose your grasp(理解,控制) on whats real and what is a dream.Ariadne: Is that what happened to you?Cobb:Listen to me. This has nothing to do with me(这和我无关), understand?Ariadne:Is that why you need me to build your
