English interview tipsFinding a job is, at times, a full-time job. At any given moment, there are hundreds of thousands of open job listings across the United States. How do you connect with the ones that are right for you? Some jobs use salary keywords, some use words that describe specific traits or assignments. Your job - in order to get a job - is to figure out which postings have keywords you should respond to (and which you should avoid). Then, you need to know what they really mean, and how to use them in your resume and cover letters.Employers often use search engine techniques to sort through resumes for the ones with the best ratio of meaningful keyword hits. Hey, youre as smart as a search engine, arent you? Here are some words to look for, and others to look out for. Keywords & Phrases To Get You an Interview* Team player - Starting out in your career, youll want to work on a team, youll need to work on a team, and the hiring manager is going to want to hear that. Tell em.* Leadership - At an entry-level, youre not being hired as a manager. But showing leadership also means showing independent thinking and the ability to take control of a situation, rather than always deferring to somebody else.。* Oral and written communications - If you cant communicate, nobody knows what youre doing, or how good (or bad) youre doing.* Problem-solving and decision-making - Some of the key keywords - showing the ability to get things done, regardless of the obstacles. Youll want these skills showing.* Bright and Passionate - A company that wants bright or passionate employees is hoping to tap into the energy of youth. Youre perfect. Apply now.Words & Phrases to Send You Running* Campus Rep - These low-level sales jobs prey upon recent grads. Youll just end up back on your old campus trying to sell things to students, and as you know, students dont have much money, so you wont make much either.* Salary + Commission - Again, a tough place to be for a first-timer. Sales jobs do typically pay commissions, but it could take years to build up a good enough sales network so you can earn enough to live. If a sales job wants entry-level folks, they know theyre not going to pay you much, so best to just go for a plain old salary.* Job ads that ask for too many skills - Some job ads strangely ask for candidates that can do everything and everything. Employers with job descriptions like this are being lazy and cheap and youll end up paying the price when they expect you do the job of three people.* Duties to be defined later - Youll end up doing everything under the sun. That way lies chaos and burnout. Great for multitaskers and workaholics, terrible for people who want to have a life.EXAMPLESWhy did you decide to seek a position in this company?” “You are a top company and I am convinced there would be no better place to work. You provide your employees with an open working environment based on team work。”“Why did you leave your last job?”(Hint: Dont lie and dont speak badly of your past employer)“I felt there was a lack of potential for upward mobility, I needed a more challenging job”“How would you describe your ability to work in a team?”“As part of my college basketball team I learned we must work together. This gave me a great insight into management techniques and how a big organisation works”“Would you be willing to travel in this job?”“I understand that in order to build a good long term relationship with our customers it sometimes necessary to travel. So far as that is concerned, you must have understood my determination. Body Language (肢体语言)Most interviewers greet the applicant with a handshake. Make sure that your clasp is firm. Being jittery about the interview can result in cold, clammy hands, which create a negative impression. Therefore, make sure your hands are warm and dry. Before leaving, try to find out exactly what action will follow the interview and when it will happen. Shake hands as you say good-bye and thank the interviewer for spending time with you. Dont shake hand with the interviewer until he/she extends his/her hand. Dont sit down until invited to do so by the interviewer. 2. Eye Contact (眼神的交流)Always maintain eye contact with the interviewer. Make eye-contact with the interviewer during the interview. Show that you are confident by looking straight at the person. Fails to look interviewer in the eye不敢正视。3. Im grateful for your concern about the job at our company. Thank you for your concern about our recruitment,We shall inform you as soon as we have made our decision. We have known something about you. You know, we have to interview several applicants we make our final decision. There is not prepared for interview. I dont know for sure. Lacks planning for career; has no purpose or goals. Is unwilling to start at the bottom; expects too much too soon. Overemphasizes money; is interested only in the best dollar offer. Has a poor personal appearance. Has limp, weak handshake. Dont talk with your mouth full. Copyright 2007-2008 Jobhere.Net All Rights ReservedDont blow your nose or use the toothpick at table. Make a Good First Impression. The outcome of the interview will depend largely on the impression you make during the first five minutes. To succeed, you must project a professional, competent and enthusiastic image. Your aim is to convince the interviewer that you would be an asset to the company. Keep the following in mind:Be punctual.准时Do whatever it takes to arrive a few minutes early. If necessary, drive to the company the night before and time yourself. Allow extra time for traffic, parking and slow elevators.Dress right. Your clothing should be appropriate for the position youre seeking. Attire must fit well within the office and be immaculate. If you dont know what the typical attire at the company is, call and ask! Shoes should be polished; pants/skirts and shirts pressed.Shake well.握手A firm handshake is appropriate and projects confidence. Make eye contact when you shake.Speak correct body language. Send the right message by standing straight, moving confidently, and sitting slightly forward in your chair.Let the employer lead into conversations about benefits.Your focus on salary, stock options and vacation time can turn off an otherwise-interested interviewer.Be honest.诚实Tell the interviewer about your work skills, strengths and experience, including any volunteer work you have done. If you haven鈥檛 had a particular kind of experience, say so, but also demonstrate your ability to learn new skills by changing the focus back to a time when you did so for a prior employer.Be enthusiastic.热情Show your clear interest in the job you are seeking and in the business. Smile and make frequent eye contact. Listen attentively and take notes.Find common ground. Pictures, books, plants, etc., in the office can be conversation starters. But beware! I once heard of an applicant who, spying a picture on the employer鈥檚 desk said: Hey, Tommy Lasorda. Have you met him? Her, corrected the hiring manager. Thats my wife.Have your own agenda and know where the interview should be heading. This will give you confidence and help you move from one area of questioning to the next.Remember: Most interviewers are as uncomfortable as you are. They just want the position to be filled as fast as possible. If you can put the interviewer at ease by helping things move smoothly, youll improve your chances of being hired. Remember the following:Listening skills. Listen carefully and ask questions to probe de
