Reading reportBook Review1. The book I am reading is called The Diary of Anne Frank. ( name of the book). It is written by Anne Frank and published by YILI Peoples Press. Press in 2003. The total number of pages is 216.2. Story/plot:This book is all of Anne Franks diary written in World War Two.Anne Frank is a 13 years old girl, who came from a Jews Family. But at that time, Jews is dangerous and cannot keep alive. Anne hates war but she can do nothing because she was young. So she keeps writing in her diary everyday .Wrote down all the things and her thought.3. Setting / Background:At the end of the Second World War. Otto Frank, Annes father and the only surviving family member, returned to Amsterdam. Miep Gies and Elli Voskuijl ,who had protected and sustained the group hiding in the “Secret Annexe,” presented Mr. Frank with notebooks and papers in Annes handwriting that had been rejected by the Gestapo when they arrested the families.4. The main male character/hero is called Otto Frank.Short description of his appearance, personality etc:Otto Frank is Annes father. Actually, this is a diary .We cannot recognized who is the hero. But I think Anne Franks father is a people who I most respect. Otto Frank is different from other childrens father, he didnt required Anne to got a good marks in school, which he most hope is Anne can be happy and healthy everyday. And he always said:” Dont worried about everything, we shall arrange everything. Make the most of your carefree young life while you can. That was all.” And during all of their hiding periods, Otto always encouraged his family to be brave for everything.5. The main female character/heroine is called Anne Frank.Short description of her appearance, personality etc: There is no denying that this all of the diaries were written by Anne Frank. She is a brave and well rounded girl, she always thinking the things about her family, her village, even her country. At the same time, Annes diary makes poignantly clear the ultimate shining nobility of that spirit. Despite the horror and the humiliation of their daily lives, these people never gave up. Anne herself-and, most of all, it is her portrait which emerges so vividly and so appealingly from this book-matured very rapidly in these two years, the crucial years from thirteen to fifteen in which change is so swift and so difficult for every young girl. 6. Minor character(s):Kitty ( the name of Annes diary.)7. My favorite character is Anne FrankReasons:The reason why I like Anne is just like in front of what I said, Sustained by her warmth and her wit, her intelligence and the rich resources of her inner life, Anne wrote and thought much of the time about things which very sensitive and talented adolescents without the threat of death will writeher relations with her parents, her developing self awareness, the problems of growing up.8.The most impressive episode/ scene is the diary in Monday, 21 September, 1942. Reason(s) why it impresses me:This diary is Anne recorded her a days life. She said Mr Koophuis will bring a few specials books for her every other week. Anne Frank like reading very much, even some books she had read four times. At that time little girls are not allow to read. But Anne wants to learn more from the books, she want to make herself developed and wised. Annes thirty for learning made me impress. We should be like her in these peace days. 9. Comments/Reflections (1000 words):Otto Frank circulated copies of Annes diary o friends as a memorial to his wife and daughters. He was urged to make it public and finally published an edited version in 1947. Since then, it has been translated into more than thirty languages and adapted for theater, film, and television. Scholarly investigation into the life and work of Anne Frank continue to this day under the auspices of the Anne Frank Foundation in Amsterdam. The following pages contain supplemental material to enrich readers understanding of this courage that is her legacy. This is a remarkable book. Written by a young girland the young are not afraid of telling the truthit is one of the wisest and most moving commentaries on war and its impact on human beings that I have ever read. Anne Franks account of the occupation of Holland, living in constant fear and isolation, imprisoned not only by the terrible outward circumstances of war but inwardly by themselves, made me intimately and shockingly aware of wars greatest evil the degradation of the human spirit.I am remember deeply some words from Annes diary:“ I simply cant build up my hopes on a foundation consisting of confusion, misery, and death. I see the world gradually being turned into a wilderness, I hear the ever approaching thunder, which will destroy us too, I can feel the sufferings of millions and yet, if I look up into the heavens , I think that it will all come right, that this cruelty too will end, and that peace and tranquility will return again. In the meantime, I must uphold my ideals, for perhaps the time will come when I shall be able to carry them out.” I really love these words written by Anne Frank. It shows that shes a girl who full of dreams in her mind. Anne knows what she wants and what she should do. This is very important in each human beings life. In our daily life, it is not enough study hard. We need a wonderful dream, no matter what the dream for yourself or your friends or your country. Only that a dream on your mind you would have the power to do everything. A people who has a dream will do good job in daily than those who have no dreams. And Anne keep sunshine in her spirit even though she cannot see the sun for a long time in her hiding room. In that black days she was full of sunshine and keep smiling.Sustained by her warmth and her wit, her intelligence and the rich resources of her inner life, Anne wrote and thought much of the time about things which very sensitive and talented adolescents without the threat of death will writeher relations with her parents, her developing self awareness, the problems of growing up. This arc the thoughts and expressions of a young girl living under extraordinary tells us much about ourselves and about our own children. And for this reason too, I felt how close we all are to Annes experience, how very much involved we are in her short life and in the entire word.Anne Franks wish“I want to go on living even after my death.” has come true. Today the Anne Frank Foundation maintains the building on the Prinsengracht Canal where the Franks hid for twenty-
