Board Design.Analysis of the teaching material(一) Status and Function Unite 4 Wildlife protection is an important lesson in this book. The topic is the importance of wildlife protection. The students will be very interested in such a topic, but the habitats of the wildlife is threatened. So it is helpful to make the Ss know more about the current condition of wildlife. Let them do more to help wildlife. It also can help students to attain listening, speaking and reading skills. Therefore this lesson is in the important position of the teaching material. (二)Teaching aims Language knowledge aims : a. Enable the Ssto grasp some words and expressions such as, dinosaur/inspect/incident/ dust/to come into being/according to and so on. Ability aims : a. To improve studentslistening, speaking and reading ability by reading the passage. To improve the studentsreading ability, especially their skimming and scanning ability. b. To train the students how to use their own words to express their ideas about wildlife protection. c. To learn to discuss more problems and ways of wildlife protection.(四)Teaching key and Difficult point 1. Key points a. New words and phrases b.To improve the studentsreading and listening ability, especially their skimming and scanning ability. 2. Difficult points a. Develop their communicative ability and teamwork spirit. Make them learn to think or to say or even do something for wildlife.(五) Teaching aids (Multi-media computer, PPT, Tape recorder ) The teaching syllabus says that its necessary for teachers to use modern teaching facilities. Its of great help to improve our teaching result. It can also make the Ss reach a better understanding of the text by making the classes lively and interesting. At the same time, it arouses the Ssinterest in learning English.: The Teaching Methods 1. Communicative teaching method 2. Audio-visual teaching method 3. “Task-based” teaching method As we all know: the main instructional aims of learning English in the Middle School are to cultivate studentsabilities of listening, speaking, reading, writing and their good sense of the English language. So in this lesson I will mainly use “Communicative”teaching method, “Audio-visual”teaching method and “Task-based”teaching method. To use these methods are helpful to develop the studentsabilities. Studentssituation Most students are interested in wildlife. So this topic can greatly attract their interests. Because they have some old knowledge about wildlife, learning this lesson can greatly spur their passion to know what are the reasons of wildlife extinction. What we should do to protect them. After learning this lesson, they will know how to share their opinions about wildlife extinction with others in English. Teaching procedures Step 1. Lead-in (5minutes)Play a video about dinosaurTo ask some questions about dinosaurs:1) What is the animal in the video? 2) Does the animal still exist? Why or why not?Step 2. Extensive Reading (10minutes)Task 1: Fast reading for general idea.Task 2: Careful reading for detailed information of dinosaursextinction.1. When did the dinosaurs live?2. What have been found in China? 3. How did the scientists know the dinosaurs could climb the trees? 4. Was it because of an expected or unexpected incident that dinosaurs died out? 5. Why did the dinosaurs die out in the passage? Give some possible reasons?Step 3. Discussion(8minutes) 1. Do you know any other endangered wildlife?2. What are them? Give some examples. (polar bear, milu deer, rhino, tiger, crocodile, leopard, koala, panda, dolphin, giraffe)3. What problems do they face? (1. Dont have enough food; 2. Being hunted and killed; 3. The bad environment)4. What do you think about the human activities which may endanger the wildlife. Step 4.Roles play (5 minutes)Make the Ss imagine themselves as a endangered wildlife and what the wildlife will say or do to humans.Step5. Listening (6minutes)Listen to the tape and do the exercises about the information of the dodo Step6. Discussion (6minutes) 1.What measures should be taken to protect the endangered animals ?(1) Treat the animals as our friends; (2) We shouldnt kill them freely. (3) We should protect the envi
