My best friendThe paddy fieldI had a best frienda paddy field, who accompanied me all my childhood in my hometown. She lay in the south of my home. I went there frequently, because I felt like in the paradise when staying with her. I could cry heartily and pour out my troubles without worrying about whether I was like a good girl. I could lose my temper and hurt her through trampling heavily without apprehending being scolded or punished. I could laugh to my hearts and run about wildly without worrying about whether it is acceptable. She was so cordial and broadminded that she shared all my tears and happiness. Those precious memories were always therein the depth of my heart.It was in summer, I stood on the baulk, and angling for frogs expertly and leisurely with the special tackles made by myself. This was my fixed recreation in the season. It was a fine day. The sunlight floated down my friend, and the brilliant gold flew in the above. She put on a beautiful green dress as the paddies grew exuberantly. As the wind blowing, her pretty dress swung and her special perfumethe fresh smell of the paddy made me exhilarated. I was touched by the lovely green waves of yearning for life. I could make out her ocher nourishing skin with the water gurgling into her body. The symphony composed of the frogs croaking and insects shirping in the field around my ears made my heart gallop on my “little grassland”. All of a sudden, I felt a quick hard pull on my angling line. Believing it must be a big frog made me really excited. I tried harder to tempt the big guy with the lure. Before long, it was hooked. Occupied with great joy, I retrieved the angling line rapidly. Next, the most miserable and horrific thing in the world happened. A huge, ugliest toad came to my eyes, which is diametrically the most frightening animal in the world for me. I screamed out, threw all my tackles into the paddy field, and ran home, crying loudlyIn my opinion, this was the biggest joke that my naughty friendthe paddy field played on me. I was annoyed and didnt visit her for quite a long time as her punishment. Even now, when I think of it, my heart beats in fright. Nonetheless, we would have a great joy as next special seasonautumn came.In autumn, there was a traditional festival named “Fang Dian Zhai” in my hometown. Every year on this day, folks would burn some straws in the paddy field, which meant wiping off rotton luck. At that age, I was very naughty and liked to follow the boys at my age to participate in the interesting “activity.” On that particular day, the boys carried oil lamps, straws and set off vastly. After arriving at the paddy field, I found that my friend changed her dress to tank-top as all paddies were gathered. Most of her skin came to my eyes. It became rough and barren, which made my heart ache. She contributed almost all her nutrition to the paddies to help the farmers have a bumper harvest. She was not only my friend, but also a friend of all peoples of my hometown! As I stepped on it, obviously, my friend was ready ro welcome the festival. The oil was so hard and dry that the boys ignited the fire easily on it. We sat in a circle around the fire. I felt warm inward as stayed in my friends arms. Before long, we began our entertainment, such as singing, cracking jokes, telling stories etc. The mirthful laughter floating above the field. The wind blew softly as if my friend was laughing with usHowever, what I can do now is mourning my friend, because she disappeared four years ago for the land agents wanted to construct new modern building
