文档简介

Im from Tianjin, one of the four direct-controlled municipalities in China. Tianjinis famous for its historic scenery, such as the Ancient Culture Street, Tianhou Palaceand my favorite one, the Wudadao District which is the living record of the symbol of Tianjin, a beautiful combination of Chinese and Western culture. There are also many fantastic snack items in Tianjinlike Goubuli baozi, Erduoyan zhagao, a traditional fried rice cakes, and the most aesthetic and tasteful Guifaxiang mahua which is twisted dough sticks. History: Actually, at the very first place,Tianjin was called Zhigu, but the Yongle Emperor renamed the city as Tianjin, means the Heavenly Ford, to indicate that the Emperor (son of heaven) forded the river at that point. In the modern history of China, Tianjin was once home to foreign concessions in the late Qing Dynasty and early Kuomintang (KMT) era, so Tianjin had been playing a very important role for the modernization of northern China and it used to be recognized as the northern version of Chinas most fashionable and developed city, Shanghai. Nowadays, Tianjin, including the old city and Binhai new area, serves as an indispensable engine of Chinas economic boom.Today, the “Wudadao Outlandish Tourist Area”, with the reputation of “World Building Exposition”, has become the most attractive humanities tourism destination which fully shows the citys charisma and historical significance. Foreign villas are assembled in Wudadao Area, which includes five main avenues of Machangdao, Munandao, Dalidao, Chongqingdao and Chengdudao. There are altogether 22 roads, with a total length of 17 kilometers and an area of 1.28 square kilometers. It occupies 600,000 square meters of land and the total area is 1,000,000 square meters. Therere over 300 sites of scenery buildings and famous people. It is recognized globally as the Exposition of Neoteric Architectures. According to the Tianjin Department of Historical Building Protection, more than 230 buildings of various styles, among which there are 89 British-style buildings, 41 Italian-style buildings, 6 French-style buildings, 4 German-style buildings, 3 Spanish-style buildings, 46 courtyard-style buildings, 40 compartment-style buildings, 5 western style houses, and 3 buildings featuring Chinese-Western mixed style could be found here, and therefore, the area matches its reputation as a “World Building Exposition”. An important reason for the reputation of the area is that many celebrities have lived here. According to incomplete statistics, two presidents of the Republic of China and seven Premiers or Acting Prime Ministers have once resided in the “Wudadao Area” during the 1920s and 1930s. In addition, a large number of celebrities from different fields, such as famous educator, Zhang Boling, well-known industrialists Zhou Xuexi and Li Zhuchen, as well as Eric Liddell, the British Olympic 400-metre race gold-medalist, have all left their historic mark in the area. Herbert Hoover, the 31st president of the US, has also been here for several years during his youth. There are more than 200 former residences of celebrities in the “Wudadao Area”, which become an important historical and cultural heritage of Tianjin. Therefore, the “Wudadao Outlandish Tourist Area” is “the epitome of modern Chinese history” and a description of social and historical changes of China in the past century. Among the main streets of the “Wudadao Area”, Machang Street is the longest one with a length of 3,216 meters. It got the name because it was once the prosperous path to former racecourse of England settlement. Pu Yi, the last emperor of Qing Dynasty, retiring politicians of the Republic of China and frustrated warlords all once left their footprints on this street. On the both sides of Munan Street, there are row upon row of western buildings, mutual beautiful courtyards and gardens, which fully show the European style. Dali Street, formerly known as Singapore Street, is famous for the single western buildings of various European styles. In Chongqing Street, most of the buildings are high-class row apartment among which there are many former residences of celebrities, including the only palace of Tianjinthe Qing Palace. Located at the most northern part, Chengdu Street has become a main welcome route of Tianjin. As a national-level historical and cultural city, Tianjin attaches great importance to the protection of historical buildings. Based on domestic and international experience of historical buildings protection and the actual situation in Tianjin, Tianjin has made comprehensive refurbishment on the “Wudadao” historical building area and makes it an important window of Tianjin.顾维钧 (January 29, 1887 November 14, 1985), often known by the Western name V.K. He also called for an end to imperialist institutions such as extraterritoriality, tariff controls, legation guards, and lease holds. The Western powers refused his claims and, consequently, the Chinese delegation at the Paris Peace Conference was the only nation that did not sign the Treaty of Versailles at the signing ceremony.Koo also was involved in the formation of the League of Nations as Chinas first representative to the newly formed League. He was briefly Acting Premier, Interim President, and Foreign Minister in 1926-1927 during a period of chaos in Beijing under Chang Tso-lin.
