Vocabularies and phrases: 1) Allow, wrong, midnight, guess, deal. 2) Whats wrong? Look through, big deal, work out. 3. Structures: 1) Why dont you.? 2) Conjunctions: until, so that, although.III. Teaching objectivesBy the end of the lesson, most of the students should be able to: 1. Instructional objectives: 1) notice the basic usage of conjunctions appeared in the listening material. (until, so that, although) 2) make conversations about problems and giving advice. 3) note down key words while listening.2. Educational objectives: 1) show more interests in English learning by doing interesting classroom activities. 2) realize when one should decline others advice, he should do it politely. 3) realize when facing a problem, one should always try to work it out actively.By the end of the lesson, teacher should be able to:3. Personal objectives: 1) manage the classroom more skillfully. 2) build up the cooperative spirit by pair work and group work.IV. Focal & difficult pointsBy the end of the class, students should be able to: 1) Focal point: note down key words quickly while listening. 2) Difficult point: notice the usage of conjunctions appeared in the listening material. (until, so that, although)V. Teaching procedureStage 1 Getting students ready for learning ( )Step 1 Greetings ( ) Teacher greets students with simple daily communication. Stage 2 Pre-listening ( )Step 2 Looking ahead ( )Teacher show the class what will be talked about in todays class. (learn some new words on page25-26, discuss something life problems and giving advice, listen for key words to solve listening tasks, discuss something about the importance of working out problems when facing one. )Aids:Purpose: make students be clear about what they are going to learn in this unit at the beginning of the class, which can help students achieve their objectives more easily. Step 3 Problem sharing ( )Teacher shares his life problems as a start and students share their problems voluntarily and note them down on the blackboard. Then students look at these problems in activity 1a and do the task.Aids: Purpose: lead in the topic-life problems by sharing them, and teacher can show a closer relationship with students by sharing his own, which would facilitate the following learning process and prepare material for the post listening stage step 9.Step 4 Revision of vocabularies ( )Teacher shows some pictures of new vocabularies together with its English expressions (a picture consists of the following words together: whats wrong? Midnight, guess, work out, not a big deal) and teacher pays attention to students pronunciation, especially the pronunciation of loss of plosion (big deal, midnight). Aids:Purpose: check students preparation of the vocabularies for listening, and use a communicative situation in the picture involving many related new words to strengthen students memory. Stage 3 While-listening (15mins)Step 5 Listen and fill in the blanks ( )Students listen to the tape (1b), and ask them to fill in the blanks with the words they hear in the listening material (the blanks are all about solutions of problems). Then, students work in pairs to self check their answer is right or wrong and teacher play a second time to check if necessary. (conjunctions in the material should be highlighted to let students pay attention to.) Students work in pairs to act out (1c).Aids:Purpose: practice students skill of listen for key words, draw students attention to solutions of life problem and prepare them for the next requirement-work in pairs to read (act) it out. Make students notice the usage of conjunctions in the material.Step 6 “Could” or “should” ( )Students listen to the tape (2a) for the first time and fill in the blanks with could or should.Aids:Purpose: make students be familiar with the general idea of the listening material and prepare them to do the next step. Step 7 Listen and number the letters ( )Students listen to the tape (2b) for the second time and number the lettersa-e with the help of skill of listening for key words. Teacher leads them to think about how to decline others advice politely.Aids:Purpose: enhance students competence of using the key word skill while doing listening tasks and guide students to know when they have to say “no” to others advice, they should act it more politely.Stage 4 Post-listening ( )Step 8 Role-play ( ) Students fill in the blanks (new words in 2d) individually with the help of English paraphrase of these new words and then role-play the conversation in activity 2d in pairs. Teacher talks about the importance of solving problems actively when facing one. Aids:Purpose: make students be familiar with the way of talking about life problems and giving advice about them, and make them notice the importance of solving problems actively when facing one. Step 9 Find your friend ( )Students work in groups of three to write problems, advice, and why you like or dont like this advice on three pieces of paper. Teacher mix these paper together and invite students to get one randomly and find the correspond students. (学生水平高的话:用之前记录的学生自己的问题编对话 问题+advice+好不好)Aids:Purpose: practice students ability of talking about life problems and giving advice and make them feel more easy to speak in front of the whol
