文档简介

Now, we come to the Reatreat and Reflection Garden. It was built in Qing Dynasty from 1885 AD to 1887 AD. The First owner was Ren Lansheng. He built the private garden when he was removed from post and returned to his native. The name comes from a saying “Be loyal to the emperor when serving the court and reflect upon oneself when retreating from the post” in ZuoChuan. Its designer was Yuan Long a famous garden designer. The garden takes an area of 9.8-mu Garden, simple quiet and elegant. It is a typical Qing dynasty style garden. Tuisi Garden has unique layout, pavilion, terrace, tower, porch, bridge, hall and house centered by pond as if these architectures are floating on it. Chinese landscaper Chen Congzhou regards Tuisi Garden as “Waterside Garden”. In 2001, Tuisi Garden was listed as worlds Cultural Heritage. The whole garden can be divided into four sections, which are the hall, the inner chamber for womenfolk, the central courtyard and the garden from west to east. The outer house has three halls. Now we are at the second part-the tea lounge, which was used to receive ordinary guests. The part behind us is the sedan hall. The wing-rooms on the right and left are the place of accountants office. Now please follow me to the third part, the grand reception hall. The owner used to receive his honored guests and hold important ceremonies for wedding, funeral and fete. The gate of it wasnt open in normal times except that there were distinguished guests. The furnish and decorate of the hall are very interesting. There are a celadon vase on the right and a marble top mirror on the left at the long narrow table, implying the meaning of placidity. There are a large clock at the north left corner and an mirror at the right corner, which meaning being utterly loyal. All these show that the owner had a heart to be fully loyal to the court. Now we reach the second section of the garden-the inner chamber for womenfolk, also named “Wanxiang Building”. The building has the Huizhou style. It is because Ren Lansheng was an official in Huizhou at one time. He liked the architectural style of Huizhou so much that he shifted it to here. The double verandas on both sides has two advantages: It can keep the sun out in summer, keep off the rain on rainy days. Under the porch there are two stairs which can make it convenient for going upstairs and downstairs. The two doors of the gateway are very special. Wanxiang building is the inner chamber for womenfolks daily life. Safe is very important. Flashed bricks stuck on the thick wooden board, which makes the door more heavy. Locals commonly call it brick door. By doing that there are two advantages. Firstly it can guard against theft because the door is very heavy; secondly it can avoid the fire. So they can be called a fireproof door. After visiting the second part , lets continue to go to the third part- the central courtyard. Here is a land boat without stern. This land boat can express the hospitality of the owner, because boat is the main means of transportation at that time. There are two magnolia trees behind the boat. In Chin it has the means of auspicious. There is a six-side-base and six-story building both side of us. This is “Zuochunwangyue” Building, which serves as the guest house. That is is the “Suihanju”, which was used to receive visitors in winter by the owner. Now we come to the fourth section of this garden-back garden It is the first building-Shuixiang Pavillion. There is a mirror midlist the pavillion, which can reflect the whole back garden. On its northern corner stand a small and exquisite pavilion named” visiting scenic spot”, which is the highest point of the garden. Standing on it, you will have a whole view of the garden scenery. It is the best place for us staying indoors to visit the garden. Here is the main building-Tuisi Thatched Cottage. The cottage is laid out as the pattern of a house with two rooms. There is a precious stele behind it on which the “homeward bound” was inscribed by Zhao Mengfu, a calligrapher in Yuan dynasty, about 700 years ago. There is a waterside terrace in front of it. Now please look upward from here. You will find a building with ship form, it was called soundly water vessel. Where does the sound come? That is because there are Taihu rockies beside its shipboards, which seem as it were waves up during the boat sailing. The boat appears to be floating , because the goldfish is swimming in water. The scenery is named “a Naohong barge”. Over there a peak, looking like an old man with a stick. At first sight it also looks like the traditional character”寿”, so it is called “Laoren peak”. Peering at it you can find a tortoise standing on it, so it enjoys the fame of good health and a long life stone. Behind of it there is a over bridge rating as an unsurpassed one, which is aslope and original from the compound road of Epang Palace.Let us pay attention to the pattern on the ground which is a vase with three lances with two points, implying the meaning of advancing three ranks. Now we are in the “Guyushengliang Pavillion”, which is the place for the owner to enjoy the cool in summer. A bright mirror was inlaid amidst it. It seems that there is another garden besides this one looking far into the distance while it is like place yourself in the midst of lotus pool seeing close to it. If you eat melon and enjoyed the cool here in midsummer, you will experience that you naturally feel cool and refreshing when you are calm. Besides, three sub drains were designed under the whole building. The master could hear the clear ripples sleeping in Xiangfei couch, which adds slighter chill in the air. It is said that the mirror had been taken back by the son of the owner when he returned to China after studying abroad. Now we will visit Osmanthus Hall. There are all kinds of osmanthus, so the hall will be full of the strong fragrance of osmanthus in autumn. There are two characters” “liuren” inscribed above the doorframe, expressing that the owner hope guests could stay here forever. But guests must leave in the end, so the character “ren” is special, like the character “xin” , means heart in Chinese. People remained is no more than heart remained. Though they were gone, they left their heart forevermore. There is a so-called promise land in front of the hall. A round”寿
