Unit 5 What will I be like?The First PeriodKnowledge objectives:Using adverbs of sequency. e.g. First; Next; Then; Finally Using adjectives to make comparisons e.g. Ill be taller and heavier. Using the simple future tense to talk about future events.e.g. Ill be an astronaut. Ability objectives:Let the students read and write about how children will develop and what job they may do in the future. Emotional objectives:Arouse the students to study hard in order to realize their ideals.Pre-task preparation Ask: What will you be like in 15 years time?What job will you do?While-task procedure1) New wordscentimetre, weigh, kilogram, weigh, spacecraft, astronaut, magic , button 2) Give the students time to look at the pictures in Read and match. 3) In pairs, students read the sentences and number the sequence. Select individual students to read out the text in the correct sequence. 4) Play the cassette for Read and Learn. The students listen and repeat. Ask: What will Kitty be like in fifteen years time? Play the cassette for Read and Say . The students follow in their books. 5. Select a pair of students to read out the first description. Ask questions:e.g. What does Peter love doing?What is he good at? What will he be like in 15 years time?What will he do?6. Select a pair of students to read out the second dialogue. Select individual students to read out the second description. Ask questions:e.g. What does Jill love doing?What is she good at?What will she be like in 15 years time?7. Talk about individual students in the class. Say: I think _ will be a policeman. Do you agree?Yes, I agree. / No, I dont agree. 8. Workbook 6B page 33. What does Ben love doing? What is he good at? What will he be like in 15 years time? What will he do?3. Play the cassette again. The students listen and repeat. 4. Select individual students to read out a sentence each. 5. In pairs, students talk about Joe and Ben. Select pairs to say a dialogue. 6. You can use Photocopiable page 8 to give the students future practice. Suggested answers:A driver is good at driving. A reporter is good at writing. A teacher is good at teaching. A singer is good at singing. A pilot is good at flying a plane. A cook is good at cooking. Consolidation:1. Workbook 6B Page 292.
