Teach the word “birthday” in English.(2) If today is Jan. 1, we can say “Happy New Year.” To each other. And if todays Sams birthday, what can we say?Learn to say “Happy birthday, Sam.” One by one.(3) Tell a story something like this. Its Sams birthday today. His friends May, Alice, Tom and Peter are all in his home. Sam is very happy. Why? Because its his birthday. May says, “Happy birthday, Sam.” What does Sam say? (Thank you.) What do we say?Then, ask the pupils to look at it for a short time. Take down the wallchart and ask them to name some of the things they saw, e.g. apple, orange, present, etc.Step Presentation1.Introduce the vocabulary items orally in the wallchart. The teacher can say, “In the party, we can eat a lot of delicious food and drinks, such as cakes, ice cream, sweets, jelly, milk and coke.2.(1)Revise the food and drink names by showing the picture cards for the pupils to identify.(2)Take out a picture of Sams sleeping. Say What is Sam dreaming?(3)Teaching the new vocabulary items of food and drinks. Pronounce the words carefully and let the pupils repeat several times.(4)Ask one pupil to mime eating food or drinking items they have just learned. The other ones try to guess what the food is .The first one to guess correctly gets to come up and mime.(5)Bring the food and drinks to class and put them on a table.
