By using the methods, such as questionnaire survey, case interview, material analysis and so on, the paper describes the present situation of Xudong school and analyzes the predicament and the problems that the present peasant laborer Dependents school faces. Based on the analysis, it finally analyzes the influence about the new policy. From the analysis, this paper points out all sorts of hindrance which peasant laborer Dependents school faces during the raising the second generations. Although those measures are not the fundamental solution to their problems, they are the unique outlet to save themselves. All these indicate that in the then American society, the common masses had no ability or possibility to change the reality and all their seeming measures for salvation were useless. The paper, through analyzing the spiritual journey of the characters in Steinbeck’s plays of Of Mice and Men and their broken American Dream, reveals the inevitability of the broken American Dream in the background of the social crisis and the spiritual crisis in the 20th century.
