题型重组练(七) (建议用时:30分钟).阅读理解A(2019金华十校高三调研)Can I talk about salary at work? In a word: yes. The HR company Insperity put it in a recent blog post: Can your employees discuss their salaries or wages with their coworkers? Yes. Even if you have a company policy against it? Yes.The freedom to discuss your salary at work is a protected right under the labor law. The National Labor Relations Act of 1935 protects your right to discuss the conditions of your employment, including issues related to safety and pay, even when youre not protected by a union.Talking about salary with colleagues can be uncomfortable, since theres such a taboo about discussing money matters, but its an important step towards achieving equal pay for equal work. One barrier, however, stems from how we think of our own financial worth. Too many people I talk to wrongly consider their salary a reflection of their worthiness, a statement about their skills, experience, or value. At the end of the day, if we can all separate our selfworth from our salaries a bit more, itll become easier to talk frankly with our colleagues.Asking about money outright can be tough, so one trick Ive picked up along the way is to ask for your colleagues to confirm or deny. For instance, you might volunteer your salary first and ask “Does that sound right to you?” by way of comparison. Or, lets say youre interviewing for a promotion to become a manager. You might ask a fellow manager about the kind of salary you should expect by saying, “Im seeing salaries for this kind of position ranging from $65,000 to $70,000does that seem accurate to you?” This way, even if your colleague isnt comfortable sharing their salary outright, they can help you identify if your expectations are appropriate.1What makes coworkers uncomfortable to talk about salaries?AThe safety issue.BThe labor law.CThe wrong idea about salaries.DThe reflection of their worthiness.2What does “taboo” underlined in paragraph 3 refer to?AA prohibited practice.BA firm belief.CA general agreement.DA social custom.3What is mainly talked about in paragraph 4?AOne of my interview experiences.BMy way of asking about money.CThe method of raising questions.DAn example of getting promoted.4What can be the best title for the text?AHow to Discuss Salaries at WorkBWays of Talking about SalariesCDo Salaries Stand for Selfworth?DCan Salaries Be Talked about at Work?B“Hope has proved a powerful predictor of outcome in every study weve done so far,” said Dr. Snyder, a psychologist. In a study with 3,920 college students, Dr. Snyder found that the level of hope among freshmen at the beginning of their first term was a more accurate predictor of their college grades than their SAT scores or their grade point averages in high school. “Students with high hope set themselves higher goals and know how to work to attain them,” Dr.Snyder said. “When you compare the equal learning ability and past school achievements of students, you will find that what sets them apart is hope.”In seeking a way to assess hope scientifically, Dr.Snyder went beyond the usual belief that hope is merely the sense that everything will turn out all right. “This idea is not concrete enough; It fails to clarify two key components of hope,” Dr.Snyder said. “Having hope means believing you have both the will and the way to accomplish your goals, whatever they may be.”Despite the wisdom in the old saying “where theres a will, theres a way”, Dr.Snyder has found that the two are not necessarily connected. In a study of people from 18 to 70 years old, Dr.Snyder discovered: only about 40% of the people were hopeful in the technical sense of believing they typically had the energy and means to accomplish their goals; about 20% of the people believed in their ability to find the means to attain their goals, but said they had little will to do so; another 20% had the opposite pattern, saying they had the energy to motivate themselves but little confidence that they would find the means; the rest had little hope at all, reporting that they typically had neither the will nor the way.“Its not enough just to have the wish for something,” said Dr.Snyder. “You need the means, too. On the other hand, all the skills to solve a problem wont help without the willpower to do it.”5What does Dr.Snyder think can best predict a freshmans academic performance?AHis SAT scores.BHis high school grades.CHis level of hope.DHis family background.6What does the underlined word “concrete” in the third paragraph probably mean?AClear. BPure.CUniversal.DPopular.7What did Dr. Synder say about the old saying “where theres a will, theres a way”?AIt is quite realistic.BIt is not inspiring to students.CIt is totally wrong.DIt is not always true in reality.8What can be the most suitable title for the passage?ANo Pain, No GainBHope Emerges as the Key to SuccessCWill Gets It GoingDWhere Theres a Will, Theres a Way.完形填空I had no idea she would be there.
