Listening-and-answering activity to train the students listening ability.2. Discussion method to understand the music better.Teaching Aids:A recorderTeaching Procedures:Step GreetingsGreet the whole class as usual Step Warming up 1. Look at the map in the textbook and about different continents and difficult countries in the world2. Ask the students to listen to the songs and try to guess where the music comes from, then get the Ss to explain their choices.3. To tell the students there are difficult kinds of music in the world Discussion:1).where do you think the music comes from?2).what makes you thing this music comes from ?3)what are the differences between the songs you have heard ?4)can you guess what the songs are about ?5).what piece of music do you like best?4. Brain storm let the Ss say as many music-related words as possible, and the teacher writes them on the blackboard , such as :classical ,pop ,folk, jazz, dance, rock and roll ,hip-pop, and rap, Latin, the blues, light, heavy metal.Step Listening Before listening at first let the ss go through the questions in the listening part on P12.then play the cassette for them to listen The students will have two chance to listen ,the first time for question 1 and 2. while the second time for question 3,4 and 5. Questions :1).what would be a good title for the song?2).What is the song about ?3).How does the song make you feel ?4).Do you like the song ?5).How would you describe the song ?step .Listening in workbook 1. preparation.(looking and saying). T: Just now we talked about music styles and music words, do you have your favourite singer? Who is he or she ? Ask Ss introduce his/her favorite singer2. Listening Here is some information about Michael Jackson. 1).Filling in the sheet on P145 Suggested answers: Date of birth : August 29.1958. Name of his band: The Jackson Five. Useful expressions: possible responses Making suggestions and giving advice Maybe we could well, but what about ? Can I ask you for suggest? I suggest (that) What can you considered doing Maybe it would be better to Have you considered doing? Thats a good idea.2.Listen and Practice 1).listen play the dialogue on P72 for the students to listen and repeat with closed books (pay attention to the useful structures )2).practice pair work or group work :activity 2 on page 72 chose one of the situations to create dialogues. Then ask some pairs to perform before the class. Possible version for situation 1 Sa: Hello, Jack ! You look worried .do you need help ?Sb: Yes,I do .I want to find a good song to dance to. could you choose one for me Sa: Sure that depends on the kind of your dancing .when will you need it?Sb : On Saturday evening. We need a slow and soft song to dance to Sa: I think you can play the famous song“Edelweiss”.It is not fast.Sb: Its a good song ,but we want to play the song at the end of the party.Sa: Hm. I think there are some other universal language besides music, such as dancing, paintings and photographs. There are all talking about something and expressing some ideas and feeling in different ways.Step Retell the text by completing the blanks. Some of the exciting music are being played from around the world .blues with a long history comes from songs .it has been used to show they are and what is in their heart. and are also enjoyed .Hp-hip which can be fast or slow will help people hear new things in old music, while will speak along with the best .Another important style is Latin music which has all over the world .And it is especially poplar with people. There is a word of difference between thinking about it and doing it.2.What we hear on the radio or see on TV is only a small part of all th wonderful music that is waiting for us.1).what we hearTV是主语从句what 既是引导词,同时又兼作here ,see的宾语。Eg: what we need is more time.What he said made us very happy.2).that is waiting for us 是宾语从句,修饰music, that 在从句中作主语,不能省略。当先行词被all,few, very, the first ,nothing ,anything, everything或形容词最高级修饰时,或是先行词中即有人又有物时,关系代词用that而不用which.Eg: This is the best film that Ive ever seen. We should do all that is useful to the people.3).a small part of 中的a不能省略,或者说当part前有形容词修饰时,需带冠词,若单独说part of则不用冠词。Eg: He spent part of his life in China. The bridge is part of the main road. After speaking for about half an hour he came to a sad part of the family history.3. Here is a brief look at some of the exciting musical styles from around the world.1).Here is为倒装结构。 Eg: Here is the address of your hotel.Here is a letter for you.2).本句中的look作名词时,当动词作名词使用时,后面所用的介词仍保持不变。Eg: please look at the blackboard. Please have/take a look at the blackboard. I have no interest in maths.3).style 是名词,意为“风格;作风;方式;样式,种类“。Eg: live in the western style. Her hair was done up in a fashionable style. There are many styles of music. The style is the man.(文如其人)。 4).辨析:style, form, shape ,pattern style:侧重于文体,风格,写作方式,时髦或衣服款式等. form:指较抽象的“形状”也指物质结构的“形状”. shape:指外型(outer form) pattern:侧重于典型,模型,图案.Eg: He is supposed to be a great writer, but I dont live his style. Different countries have different forms of my birthday. This is a sentence pattern.4.The blues comes form African songs that people used to sing when they worked and during festivals.1).真假复数。 .英语中,有些名词虽然是以S结尾,表示的却是单数或抽象概念。作主语时谓语动词要用单数,eg: maths ,physics, politics. News , blues.Eg: No news is good news. .goods, cards ,manners ,clothes, trousers, shorts 等应作复数处理。 Eg: Cards are not allowed here.means, species, series, 是单复同形,既可用作单数又可用作复数Eg: Every means has been triedAll the means have been tried.2).used to do .过去常用。 be used to dong sth. 习惯做某事。 be used to do. 被用来做某事。5Todays American culture contains many different musical styles.1). contain与include异同二者都用于“包含”,都不用于进行时态。. include侧重于指整体里面“包含”个体,指作为整体的一部分或其要素之一而包括在内;后接动词时,要用其Ving 形式。Eg: Two new names were included in the list .My job doesnt include making coffee for my boss.(为老板煮咖啡不是我工作份内的事).contain除有include的意义外,还常指较大的东西里容纳了比它小的东西或另一种不定形东西(如气体、或液体等)Eg: That box contains old lettersBeer contains alcohol.include还经常用其现在分词短语或过去分词短语作插入语,起补充说明作用。而contain无此用法。现在分词including与逻辑主语(被其解释说明部分)是主谓关系。过去分词included逻辑主语(其前名次或代词)是动宾关系,表被动含义。Eg: We bought some extra office equipment , including some new desks and a computer.All of us ,me includ
