I have tried never to let my profession stand in the way of being a good parent.I no longer consider myself the center of the universe. I show up. I listen. I try to laugh. I am a good friend to my husband. I have tried to make marriage vows(誓约)mean what they say. I am a good friend to my friends, and they to me. Without them, there would be nothing to say to you today. So heres what I wanted to tell you today: Get a life. A real life, not a desire of the next promotion(提升), the bigger paycheck, the larger house.Get a life in which you are not alone. Find people you love, and who love you. And remember that love is not leisure(空闲), it is work. Pick up the phone. Send an e-mail. Write a letter. And realize that life is the best thing and that you have no business taking it for granted. It is so easy to waste our lives, our days, our hours, our minutes. It is so easy to exist instead of to live. I learned to live many years ago. Something really, really bad happened to me, something that changed my life in ways that, if I had my choice, it would never have been changed at all. And what I learned from it is what, today, seems to be the hardest lesson of all.I learned to love the journey, not the destination. I learned to look at all the good in the world and try to give some of it back because I believed in it, completely and totally. And I tried to do that, in part, by telling others what I had learned. By telling them this: Read in the backyard with the sun on your face. Learn to be happy. And think of life as a deadly illness, because if you do, you will live it with joy and passion as it ought to be lived. 56The best title of this passage probably is _.A. Love your friendsB. Washington, D.C. has the National Gallery of Art (美术馆); Paris has the Luvre; London, the British Museum. Florida International University (FIU) in Miami also shows art for people to see. And it does so without a building, or even a wall for its drawings and paintings.FIU has opened what it says is the first computer art museum in the United States. You dont have to visit the University to see the art. You just need a computer linked to a telephone. You can call the telephone number of a university computer and connect your own computer to it. All of the art is stored in the school computer. It is computer art, produced electronically by artists on their own computers. In only a few minutes, your computer can receive and copy all the pictures and drawings.Robert Shostak is director of the new computer museum. He says he starts the museum because computer artists had no place to show their works.A computer artist can only record his pictures electronically and send the records, or floppy discs, to others to see on their computers. He can also put his pictures on paper. But to print good pictures on paper, the computer artist needs an expensive laser printer.Robert Shostak says the electronic museum is mostly for art or computer students at schools and universities. Many of the pictures in the museum are made by students. Mr Shostak said the FIU museum will make computer art more fun for computer artists because more people can see it. He says artists enjoy their work much more if they have an audience. And the great number of home computers in America could mean a huge audience for the electronic museum.66. Now comes a third choice, called Quickwheel. It is designed to get disabled motorists rolling again as quickly as possible. Quickwheel is basically a tiny emergency trailer-complete with three tough little wheels of its own-that supports the flat tyre and enables the motorist to drive to a service station without losing much time or expending much energy. The product is made in the Netherlands but is owned and marketed by a US company, Quickwheel Inc. of Greenwich, Connecticut. According to the firms president, Robert Bockweg, the product meets each of the major worries that customers relate with flat tires: safety, lost time and physical labor. To use it, motorists simply unfold the product to its fully extended position, set it in front of the disabled tyre, drive the car onto the Qnickwheels ramp(斜板) and fix a special safety strap(带子) over the tyre. The tyre is then locked, or cradled, in Quickwheels metal frame. Its three wheels do the rest of the work. According to Quickwheel Inc, its product can be driven for miles at the speed of up to 45 miles per hour without any noticeable change in the vehicles braking(刹车) or steering operation. The company also says that it can be used on just about any type of car, jeep, mini-van or trailer. Bockweg says that Quickwheel will be sold first in the United States, at a price of $ 150. Sales agreements now being talked over should make the product ready for use in Japan, Canada and Western Europe in the near future.70. What does the underlined phrase disabled motorists probably mean? A. Motorists who cant walk. B. Motorists who have disabilities.C. Drivers who cant drive on because of a flat tire. D. Drivers who are hurt in an accident.71. According to the information in the passage, Quickwheel _. A. can be used to replace a flat tire B. providesa kind ofsupport to the flat tire for a short timeC. is able to move as quickly as a wheelD. is as changeable and lasting as an ordinary wheel72. It is suggested but not clearly stated that Quickwheel _. The new book, 1491, completely changes our understanding of the Americas before the arrival of Columbus in 1492. DID YOU KNOW? When Columbus landed there were probably more people in the Americas than there were in Europe. The peoples of North America had such healthy life-styles that as late as the 19th century they continued to be the tallest people on earth. Facts have shown that the Americas were populated as long as 33,000 years ago. 4,000 years ago Mesoamerican farmers developed corn in a feat (技艺) of genetic engineering that still isnt completely understood.
