supply system will be set to ensure the firewater supply for the plant Only one place will be taken into consideration where a fire occurs in the plant it should be the place whose fire fighting water consumption is maximum The max outdoor fire water hydrant system water demand is 25l s and the max indoor fire water hydrant hose reel system is 10l s of the general plant according to Code for Fire Protection Design of Buildings GB50016 2006 The maximum fire water demand of all the plant is 35l s and the fire duration in 3hours Based on the point of maximum fire water demand in the plant the design quantity of fire water is 35l s and 3 hours duration so the firewater demand for one fire case is 378 m3 A firewater basin will be constructed in the plant and effective volume is about 525 m3 There are two firewater pumps in firewater pump house one in motor driven is operated another in diesel engine is spare The two pumps are set with the capacity of 40l s and head of 60m Besides that there are two fire jockey pumps and two pressurizer water tanks in the pump house one jocky pump runs and the other standby which are set with the capacity of 2 5l s and head of 80m they can meet the requirement of fire fighting and independent suction pipe is set for each fire water pump The pressure of the network is maintained by jockey pump and pressurizer water tanks The firewater pump is interlocked with the pressure of network In case of fire the pressure of network drop down the pressure switch can start the firewater pump automatically When the motor driven pump gets out of order during power failure the diesel engine driven pump will be started immediately to ensure fire water supply One fire water pipe network is underground and routes in loop in the plant There are two outlet pipes connected with loop fire water network which come from fire water pumps An isolated valve is installed between these two pipes to ensure that if one outlet is in maintenance the other one can supply the total water quantity Fire fighting water will be supplied to all units in the whole plant which includes CYC unit tank farm NaCN unit administration building social building and maintenance shop etc For outside underground pipe network the fire hydrant pipe runs in loop to supply fire water to the whole plant Aboveground fire hydrants and block valves are installed as per the local code approved The size of main pipeline is 8 the smallest pipe size is 4 Fire fighting water system is independent and can not be used for other purpose 4 0 FIRE HYDRANT SYSTEM This system is SystemCD06121201 00 PF TS 0025 of 60 Fire hydrant water is supplied to the outdoor fire water hydrant system and the indoor fire water hydrant hose reel system in the plant Outdoor hydrants of aboveground type are arranged all over the plant Distance between two adjacent outdoor hydrants doesn t exceed 60m Isolated valves are set in the proper location of the loop firewater network to guarantee the hydrants number not more than five Outdoor hydrants of SS100 1 6 are used in this project Each hydrant has a cabinet equipped with two 30m length of 65mm fire hoses two 19mm water current spray two use type nozzles two 80 65 connections Indoor fire water hydrant hose reel system will set in CYC auxiliary material warehouse NaCN unit maintenance and spare parts room administration building and social building etc Relief pressure type fire hose station is necessary where pressure at outlet of fire hose is more than 0 5Mpa in those building The distance between two indoor hose stations shall be no more than 30m The type of indoor fire water hydrant nozzle shoud be as below Water current type should be used in administration building social building and maintenance area Water current spray two use type nozzle should be used in NaCN units and CYC auxiliary material warehouse The fire hydrant system is designed as followings Flow rate of outdoor fire hydrant 25L s Flow rate of indoor fire hose 10L s Firefighting duration 3h 5 0 FIRE EXTINGUISHERS Fire extinguishers shall be allocated according to the Code of Design of Extinguisher Distribution in Buildings GB50140 2005 and according to the different hazard classes in this project the corresponding type and quantity extinguishers are to be allocated to extinguish initial small fire Powder extinguisher will be used for A B C fires CO2 extinguishers will be used for electrical fires In the NaCN unit utility building and CYC auxiliary material warehouse there are 5kg portable powder extinguishers distributed Besides that 5kg portable CO2 extinguishers are allocated in MCC Control MV Switchgear room to extinguish initial electrical fires In the CYC pro
