And youd also expect Japanese people to be very positive (乐观的), because they seem to live much longer. But clearly wealth and good health do not bring happiness because both countries failed to make the top ten most positive countries. The poll (调查) of nearly 150,000 people around the world found that seven of the worlds 10 countries with the most upbeat attitudes are in Latin America. 1,000 people in each of 148 countries were asked about if they were well-rested, had been treated with respect, smiled or laughed a lot, learned or did something interesting and felt feelings of enjoyment the past day. In Panama and Paraguay (巴拉圭), 85 percent said yes to all five, putting those countries at the top of the list. They were followed closely by El Salvador (萨尔瓦多), Venezuela, Trinidad and Tobago (特立尼达和多巴哥), Thailand, Guatemala (危地马拉), the Philippines, Ecuador (厄瓜多尔) and Costa Rica (哥斯达黎加). The people least likely to report positive emotions lived in Singapore, one of the most developed countries in the world. Other wealthy countries also sat surprisingly low on the list. Germany and France tied with the poor African state of Somaliland for 47th place. The poll shows that rich nations can also be deeply unhappy ones. Eating the right kind of food is very important. It can help your body grow strong. So take care of what you eat. There are four main food groups altogether. The dairy group has food like milk, cheese and sour milk. The other three groups are the meat and fish group, the fruit and vegetable group, and the bread and rice group. Each meal should have at least one food from all four main groups. With all these foods together, you will be given enough energy (能量) during the day. It is easy to get into bad eating habits. You may eat your breakfast in a hurry to get to school on time. Or you may not have time for a good lunch. It may seem easy to finish your supper with fish and chips all the time. But you will find yourself tired in these days and you cannot think quickly. Watching what you eat will help keep your body healthy and strong. It is also good to take some exercise. I dont think so. “Health is the greatest wealth (财富),” wise people say. You cant be good at your studies or work well when you are ill. If you have a headache, a toothache, a backache, an earache or bad pain in the stomach, if you complain of a bad cough, if you run a high temperature and have a bad cold, or if you suffer from high or low blood pressure, I think you should go to the doctor. The doctor will examine your throat, feel your pulse, test your blood pressure, take your temperature, sound your heart and lungs, test your eyes, check your teeth or have your chest X-rayed. After that he will advise some treatment or some medicine. The only thing you have to do is to follow his advice. Speaking about doctors advice, I cant help telling you a funny story. An old gentleman came to see the doctor. The man was very ill. He told the doctor about his weakness, memory loss and serious problems with his heart and lungs. The doctor examined him and said there was no medicine for his disease. He told his patient to go to a quiet place for a month and have a good rest. He also advised him to eat a lot of meat, drink two glasses of red wine every day and take long walks. In other words, the doctor advised him to follow the rule: “Eat at pleasure, drink with measure and enjoy life as it is.” The doctor also said that if the man wanted to be well again, he shouldnt smoke less than one cigarette a day. A month later the gentleman came to the doctors office. He looked cheerful and happy. It is more important than ever to succeed at school if you hope to have a chance in the job market afterwards. Its no wonder that many young people worry about disappointing their parents and their classmates. In order to please everyone, they take on too many tasks until it becomes harder and harder to balance homework, sports activities and friends. The result is that young people suffer from stress. No stress will lead one to become lazy and unproductive, but stress can become negative when one experiences it for a long period. Stress can result in poor memory and anxiety which are very harmful to teenagers body. There are many different ways of dealing with stress; one of them is to exercise. Research has proved that physical exercise is a good release (释放) for stress, because it increases certain chemicals in the brain which can calm you down. Food is the source of our energy. Because of long working hours, people usually choose to eat microwave reheated food or junk food. However, when a person eats a lot of food that is high in sugars and carbohydrates (碳水化合物), he/she will feel a “sugar rush” which leaves him/her with less energy and then lower confidence levels. So dont become a victim of stress eating. Instead, try to divide your meals properly, eat at right times and eat healthy food consisting of green leafy vegetables. Another way to avoid stress is by managing your time effectively. It is better to do a few tasks really well than to do lots of tasks badly. Know your limit and try not to take on too much. Of course, you should have a “to-do” list so that you can do the important tasks before the less important tasks. Last but not least, find time to sit down quietly, try to empty out your mind of all thoughts and breathe deeply for ten to twenty minutes. Do this regularly, and it will help you calm down and relax. These are a few ways on how to avoid stress. Its in your hands whether you want to live a comfortable and meaningful life.Title: Get rid of stressThe (1) _of stress for teenagers (2) in a very competitive world, teenagers have to succeed at school in the hope of finding a good job.
