Especially the communicative English shows some new characteristics, and the translation of communicative English on the Internet has also changed. So I prepare for the essay“An analysis of the Characteristics and Translation of Communicative English on the Internet”. I think this is a rare opportunity for me to collect the information and try to figure out what the characteristics and translation of communicative English on the Internet are. Whats more, I firmly believe that my future life and work will benefit from it.1.2 The significance of this paperIn the book The Future of English David Graddol argues that we are already in a very new kind of environment and a new phase in the global development of English. What are the new rules? who will be the winners and who will be the losers? As the Internet has become incorporated into our lives, Communicative English on the Internet as a new branch of English, plays a very important role of communication, which involves chatting online, Email, BBS, electronic forum and E-message,etc. Communicative English on the Internet is a kind of language phenomenon. Its development can not only reflects the personalities and characteristics of the creators and the users, but also shows the social phenomenon and cultural phenomenon of the Internet. The occurrence of communicative English on the Internet make the traditional thinking pattern, way of behaviour, value concept and cognitive pattern of human beings change. It shows the characteristics of language culture of a generation. Both the language creativity and peoples ability to accept are unprecedented. It is closely linked with the traditional English, not only provide a very new way of communication but also enrich the modern English language. Therefore, for the communicative English on the Internet, analyse its characteristics and translation can not only help carry out the network communication but also it is a good way to use and master the modern English. In my opinion, an analysis of the characteristics and translation of communicative English on the Internet will greatly benefit the learners.2 Main Content and Major Issues to be Solved2.1 Main content According to the China Internet network information center (CNNIC), by the end of last year, The number of Chinas Internet users has reached 420 million. More than a third of them are the users of making friends and chatting on the social networking sites, which almost reached 200 million. An investigation revealed that young people have been the major players of the netizen, with an average age of 27-year-old, and most of them are the middle or higher income earners. Such a new generation who have a certain advantage towards age, education level and income, they are naturally shimmers with creative spark in the process of network communication. They created their own chat rooms, virtual communities and discussion forums on the Internet, which are full of personalized features. They keep shuttling between the real world and the virtual world. From this level, we can see that the network language has become the most basic and commonly symbol of the network communication among the young generation. It provides rich and thick soil to the development of communicative English on the Internet.As English is the language which is most widely used all over the world, there is no doubt that it also became the language that are most widely and frequently adopted on the Internet. According to statistics, more than 85% Internet language is English, over a third of the netizen use English as their communicative language on the Internet. Since most of them are the young people, who are full of intelligence and creativity, liking the pursuit of humour and witty jokes to attract peoples attention and interests. With the rapid development of market economy and media industry, peoples pace of life is becoming faster and faster, and the requires of the speed of information spreading is becoming higher and higher. Especially when chatting on the Internet, most people like the use of oral communication, and escape the traditional written specifications. Thus, the communicative English on the Internet is born. In my paper, I will analyse the characteristics of communicative English on the Internet from the perspective of vocabulary and grammar, and expound several effective ways of translation of communicative English on the Internet.Chapter 1 will gives a brief introduction of communicative English on the Internet and explain the purpose, significance and layout of this paper. In addition, literature review is covered. With the continuous development and the popularity of the Internet, English as the main language of the Internet is undergoing profound changes. Firstly, I will analyse the characteristics of communicative English on the Internet in the aspect of lexical features, and mainly discusses it in three aspects: (1)Innovation. The Internet offers a space for people to develop their creativity and imaginations freely. According to investigation statistics, most Internet users are the young people who has received a good education. They are full of intelligence and creativity, and also free to create the creativity of language they like through the increasing variety of information resources on the Internet. (2)Iconicity. On the Internet, some digital numbers, letters and special characters are widely used to express our emotions and feelings. Since these combination are very vivid, most people are accepted it easily and quickly. So after you familiarized yourself with these customary procedures, it mushroomed into a very important complement of the network language. These combination are mostly formed by many vivid and humour expressions and some movements of the graphics, and these expressions and graphics are instead of word language in a certain degree. (3)Economy. Due to the particularities of communication on the Internet, the vocabulary of Network English also have some obviously characteristics of economy, besides economical of words diction, the Network language also try to break through the limitations of the original written symbols and change some conventional standards of language, in order to created a new form of the combination of the form, sound and meaning. Such as lettered words, numbered words and graphical symbols,etc. Its richness are much more than the traditional language patterns. Communicative English on the Internet is based on the Internet and evolving with its growth. With the popularization of computers and the continuing spread of the global village, the Internet has brought great changes to peoples life and language changes reflect the tendency as a result. The development of the Internet makes communicative English more vivid and with the involvement of emoticons, netcronyms and so on. Of course, the properties of the Internet have important impact on the forms and development of communicative English on the Internet, that is, openness, equality, freedom, interactivity and virtual reality. Cyber language is a product of the information age,(Gao wen,2001). It develops with the society, the vocabulary of English is in constantly metabolism, new words instead of the old ones, and the new meaning is growing ever stronger, Because of the randomness, openness, compatibility and quickness of cyber communication. the vocabulary of communicative English on the Internet have some distinctive features besides general characteristics of the regular English vocabulary. Secondly, I will analyses and discusses the characteristics of communicative English on the Internet in the aspect of grammatical features. From the angle of grammar types, the characteristics of communicative English on the Internet basically reflect in the following respects: (1)The large use of elliptical sentence. (2)Initials often in lowercase. (3)Use ellipsis mark,question mark and exclamation mark frequently. (4)Some figures of speech: Metaphor,Pun,Hyperbole,etc. (5)Use simple sentences but occasionally with a complex style.Chapter 4 goes on the translation of communicative English on the Internet, Language, like culture, can seldom supply itself. In order to meet the need of communication, people who speak one language must contact directly or indirectly with the people who speak a similar language or a language with prestige in culture (E Sapir,1921), just for this reason, we can say that with the popularization of computers and the continuing spread of the global village, China society jointing increasingly with international, which brings more and more netizen, and this made English appeared in the Network language of China with high frequency. Thus, communicative English on the Internet as a new branch of English is born. I will describes the translation of communicative English on the Internet in principle and mode aspects. For one thing, It is well known that Yanfu, a great thinker, translator and educator in modern Chinese history said, the three principles of translation is fidelity, fluency and elegance. As for the translation of communicative English on the Internet, Yan wenpei and Yan qinjia, the two research scholars are both thought that the most important thing of translation is clear, smooth and succinct. However, another research scholar Zhou renjie think that as a translation, it must strive to the original text faithfully, which means it should be reached to understandability. Although there are various explanations about the principle of translation, while the basic requirement of them is consistent. That is, accuracy, native and pithy. As for the translation of communication on the Internet, as far as I am concerned, the first principle is according to the context to choose the semantics exactly. At the second place, the expression of the translation should require the expression habits of the professional technology. Thirdly, the translation of communicative English on the Internet should be simple, accuracy and hit the nail on the head. For the other, In the translation of communicative English on the Internet, you can use literal translation, transliteration(homonym), free translation and the combination of literal and free approached in the translation by referencing the principles mentioned above.Chapter 5 describes the major findings of this paper, The formation and development of language can not happen without culture. Language is the product of culture and also the medium of culture. Communicative English on the Internet as the carrier of Internet culture, is a sign of the times. Through analyzing and discussing on the characteristic and translation of communicative English on the Internet, we can see that compare with general English, communicative English on the Internet as a kind of new thing, not only have generality of traditional English, but also have its special characteristics, whether in the composition or in the characteristic. This is due to the special communicative media of Internet, As a new style, The emergence of communicative English on the Internet is more of the language necessity of development than meet the needs of the new generation.3 Research Approach In my paper, I mainly adopt documental method, comparative method, inductive method and citing method. At first, I just knew a little knowledge of communicative English on the Internet, and not familiar with all the features and translation of it. So in order to get a better knowing, I went to the schools library and borrowed some literary on communicative English on the Internet. In those books, there are some chapters refer to it, while they are not that comprehensive. Then I searched on the Internet and found out some scholars who had ever had a study on this kind of category and their works. Upon the searching, I figured out the emergence of communicative English on the Internet and the categorization as well.
