Shopping For Food.Analysis of Teaching Content This lesson belongs to Book,Unit3,lesson2.The Unit mainly talks about shopping.Students can contact many words about food and fruit like oranges,pears,butter,tofu and so on.We will study the way of asking position and give the answer like Where are/is the.? and They are.It is.This unit is related to our life closely.It can stimulate studentsinterests.Analysis of StudentsGrade 5 students are active and eager to know new things.They have studied English for about 2 years.They have already mastered a certain amount of vocabulary and sentence patterns.But some students learn English without confidence and interest.We should pay attention to making them interested in English.Teaching objectivesSkill Objectives1.Students will recgnize and use the vocabulary such as above, below, in front of, behind.1.Students will ask and answer about the position.Where are the? Teaching Points and DifficultiesTeaching Points: Students will go shopping with the target language. Where are the oranges? They are below the pears. Where is the butter? It is above the tofu.Teaching Difficulties:When to use where are the? When to use where is the?. Teaching StepsStep1. Warm up/Review(1) GreetingsAsk several questions about weather, dateto attract studentsattention.Ask students the time now and if they are hungry. Then let them have some “food”to review the words learnt in lesson 1.Step2. PresentationAsk one student to come to the blackboard with one flashcard. He/She put it at different positions. The teacher asks Where are the? The students answer one by one. The teacher asks another student to try again. Ask Where is the? The students answer together. After that, the teacher asks students to pay attention to the way of asking different kinds of nouns. Ask students to turn to page 32. Listen to the dialogue and point. Play the tape again, this time students read after the tape. The teacher asks students to finish part B practice. The teacher takes out a model shelf with different things on it. Then ask students to describe the position. Then put away the shelf. The teacher asks Where are the peaches? Lead the students to guess using the sentence pattern Are they? The teacher answers. Practice the dialogues for several times. Ask students to turn to page 33. Listen to the partc carefully. After listening, the teacher asks two volunteers to model the dialogue. Then boys to be Ben and girls to be Mom, read the dialogue. Direct studentsattention to section D.Ask them to look at the pictures and read the words below the pictures.Ask what they think the people are talking about.Then lead them to fill in the blanks and work in pairs.Step 3. PracticeFill in the blank.Where_ the grapes? _ _ above the peaches.Where_ tofu? _ _ in front the apples._ _ behind the potato chips? Yes,they are.Have students turn to page 87. Play the tape twice. Ask the students to listen. Then play the tape again and ask students to sing along.Step 4 HomeworkMake a model shelf with differents.
