Help the Ss to get information from the passage by listening and get more speaking skills.The moral-penetrating target(情感目标): Establish the Ss right consciousness of protecting the animals. Establish the Ss ability of expressing their own ideas.Teaching important and difficult pointsTeaching important points:New words:the name of animalsTeaching difficult points:Target languages: the drills of expressing preference and giving reasons. Analysis of the studentsThe students have learned English for about six months, they have mastered some words, and they can use the words to express their ideas. And in this unit , it mainly talks about the animals, and there are some animals names and where they are from. And the students are very interested in the animals, so in this lesson, I will use some pictures to attract their interests.the teaching material A tape recorder, a projector and a computerThe design of the teaching methodsAs we all know: the main instructional aims of learning English in middle school is to cultivate students basic abilities of listening 、speaking、reading and writing and their good sense of the English language. So in this lesson Ill mainly use “Task-based” teaching method. That is to say, I will let the Ss learn in real situations, finish a task by listening、writing and speaking to help the students to get a better understanding of the key structure of the conversations. Do you like animals? Now Ill play some sounds of animals . Please guess what kind of animals they are.( Show the slides, and let the students listen to the sounds of some animals, such as the elephants, the tigers and the dolphins. Let students guess what kind of animals they are. They may say the names of the animals in Chinese.)(By playing some sounds of the animals, let the students guess what animals they are, we can catch the students interests, and we can lead the students go in a real situation to learn English and it can raise students learning interest.)Step 2 Presentation(呈现)T:Today we are going to learn the names of animals. Well also learn how to say which ones we like and tell why we like them.(Show the slides by the computer one by one, and point to the slides)T: (Point to a panda.) Whats this? Its a panda. Whats this, Li Mei?S1: Its a panda.T: (Point to some pandas.) What are these, Li Mei?S1: They are pandas.T: Thank you.(Teach “tigers, elephants, koalas, dolphins, lions, penguins and giraffes” in the same way.)(Point to the animals individually, and ask students to repeat them as quickly as they can.)(This activity provides names of animals for students. By showing the pictures, we can set a real situation for the students to learn English, and we can let the students learn the names of the animals and let them pay attention to the differences of the Nouns singulars and plurals)Step 3 Practice (操练)1. Reading practiceT: Now, please look at the pictures in your book. Match the words with the animals.(Give students about two minutes to finish 1a)T: OK, lets check the answers. Who can tell us the answers?(Let the students say their answers.)(This activity can make students remember the names of animals.)2. Listening practice:T: Im going to play recording of three conversations. Listen carefully as you look at the words in 1a. Put a checkmark in front of the name of each animal you hear.(Play the recording for the first time. Ask the students only listen.)(Play the recording for the second time. This time students check the names of each animal they hear.)T: Lets check the answers, OK?S1: .T: Thank you.3.Speaking practice:T: I often go to the zoo because there are so many animals in it. I like to see the dolphins. Do you know why?S1: Because they are clever.T: Maybe you are right. I like to see the dolphins because they are cute. “cute” means “可爱的;漂亮的” . Read after me, cute, C-U-T-E, cute.Ss: C-U-T-E, cute.(Teach and practice “smart” in the same way.)T: Work in pairs according to the sample conversation.An example:Sa: Lets see the pandas.Sb: Why do you want see the pandas?Sa: Because they are smart.(As students work, the teacher moves around the room checking their work and offer language support as needed.)(Let the students finish the task, we can train the students co-operating abilities, and this activity can improve students listening and speaking skills.)Step 4 Production (巩固)Task: Do you know the animals well?T: Lets classify different kinds of animals. Please look at the chart. Can you finish the chart?
