Syllabus for A Survey of Major English-Speaking Countries 2014, 2 -2014, 7Course Name: A Survey of Major English-Speaking Countries Students Body: Freshmen Time: 2 hours per week Course Description：This course is designed to introduce the students to the society and culture of the major English-speaking countries, including the United Kingdom and the United States. A very general picture of the countries will be presented in terms of the geographical features, their people, historical events, the economic and political systems, customs and recreation. The objective of the course is to acquaint the students with some basic information about the English-speaking countries and to inform them of the different customs, history and social system in comparison with China. The course also aims to provide the students with a sense of awareness of cultural differences and intercultural communicative skills.
