在英语专业本科 英美文学简史和 选读 课程的基础上 通过课内外的教学活动 使学生进一步巩固 和扩展必需的英美小说基础知识 进一步提高英美小说阅读 理解 欣赏 评论能力 养成自学英美文学作品的良好习惯 为提高全面 素质 综合专业能力和创新科研能力奠定基础 要求的教学时数为 40 学时 一般安排在第一学年第一学期 每 周安排 2 学时 教学评价 测试是检查学生学习研究水平和获得教学反馈信息的重手段 important part of British and American literature Studies of British and American Novels are designed as required principal discipline course for postgraduates majoring in English language and literature especially oriented in British and American literature This course is of importance to the promotion of students ideological and political qualities and scientific and cultural qualities it assists in the mastery of British and American literary knowledge and in the formation of comprehensive discipline ability as well as creativity and innovation II Course Objective On the basis of A Short History and Selected Readings of British and American Literature offered for undergraduates of English major this course through in and out of classroom activities attempts to help students reinforce and expand the basic knowledge of British and American novels and it tries to further promote the students capability of reading understanding appreciating and commenting of the novels and cultivate students good habits of self study Therefore this course is to lay a good foundation for the improvement of comprehensive qualities complete discipline ability and creativity of the students
