I remember getting into the class with the feelings of a beginner teacher: nervous, careful, excitedetc. The school I started my first lesson in was well-known to hold the most troublesome students in the city. With this in mind, I was more nervous than I should be. But I tried my best not to show it out and went into the class. The first thing I did was taking a look at the whole class. My eyes stopped on a big black student. He was sitting in the back row of the class with no one in front of him. His body was much larger than mine. I thought it would be better to leave that boy untouched. As soon as I started my lesson writing on the backboard, I heard some noise from the back. I faced the students to find out who did it, but the class looked very quiet. I went on writing and the noise went on. Then I stopped my lesson to solve this problem because I believed that if I lost control of the class from the beginning I wouldnt be able to get it back. I thought the big boy made the noise. To my surprise, a small boy was the source of trouble. Days went on and I discovered that the big boy was good and quiet and the great source of trouble came from a group of small-sized students who became under control after some weeks. From then on, I realized that judging by appearance can often be wrong, not only with students.21. How does the writer feel as a beginner teacher? A. Unhappy B. sad C. cautious D. indifferent22. The writer stopped her lesson for a while because _. A. nobody listened to her any moreB. she wanted to find out who made the noise C. she lost control of the class completely D. she felt too nervous to go on with her lesson23. What does the writer want to tell us with this passage? A. Its hard to be a teacher. B. Dont judge a person by his appearance. C. Never let your students control the class. D. Small-sized students are often trouble makers. BRoot vegetables grow very well in Colorado, even in areas at high altitudes where long-season vegetables have little chance of success. Carrots, beets (甜菜), and turnips can be harvested at any size, making them suitable for short-season areas. Radishes (萝卜) are notable because they ripen in 30 to 45 days, making them the king of fast crops.Root crops can be left in the soil all winter, an advantage in Colorado where snows and freezing temperatures can come early. However, they should be removed before the spring temperatures warm up. Most are also able to survive the frost, and will grow if an early autumn frost is followed by warm weather.Root crops can grow in very poor conditions. Lighter, loose soils will produce straighter root vegetables. Soils with sand are perfect, though they can grow in clay soils (粘土) after some preparation.Although root crops will grow with three-quarters of a days sun, the amount of food produced by the tops and stored in the roots is directly related to the amount of light that the plant receives. A full day of sun produces larger roots. Warm, bright days and cool nights produce the greatest root growth. Its good to plant root crops in rows or beds. After the plants begin to grow, thin them to the diameter (直径) of the root at harvest. For example, for a one-inch wide carrot, leave at least an inch between plants. Root crops are seldom removed and planted in another place because digging up the plant usually breaks the tap root, causing badly shaped and forked roots.24. The following are the advantages of Root vegetables EXCEPT that_.A. they can grow well in places far above the sea levelB. they can grow well within a very short timeC. they are more than fit for transplantation D. they dont need very good conditions to grow25. What plays the most important role in root vegetablesgrowth? A. Rains. B. Soil conditions. C. Sunlight. D. Fertilizer.26. Which of the following is NOT a good way to grow root Crops?A. Planting them in rows or beds rather than in disorder. B. Planting them leaving enough distance between them. C. Letting them grow where the seeds were sowed.D. Transplanting them when they are big enough. CAs a saying goes “The eyes are the window of the soul”. That is to say, we can read ones mind through his eyes. Eye language can express complicated feelings. People from English speaking countries have more eye contact when they are in conversation. According to American tradition, communicators must gaze at each other. But there are many rules about eye language: Whether to look at the other communicator or not; when it is the time to look at them, how long we can look at; who we can look at and who we cant. In Juliets Fasters book “Body Language”, there is a paragraph which can explain the problem. “Two strangers sit face to face in the dinning room in a train; they can introduce themselves to each other. When they are eating, they can talk anything else. They also can avoid eye contact and do not show interest in each other. A writer described this situation in an article: They look over the menu again and again, play with knives and look at their nails. If their eyes meet, they will turn away immediately and look out of the window.”Americans pay great attention to the time and the way of eye contact. In common conversation, they will look at each other about one minute and then they will look away. If two Americans gaze at each other, which shows they are intimate. In North America, the children there have learned to look at the other communicator directly. If they dont, they are regarded lack of enthusiasm or confidence. They believe the saying “Never trust a person who cant look you in the eyes.” 27. Whats the meaning of the saying “The eyes are the window of the soul”? A. Our eyes are part of our soul. B. We can discover ones mind by watching his eyes. C. Our eyes are the most important part of our body. D. Our eyes are broken easily and should be protected.28. If a student doesnt look his teacher in the eyes when he was speaking to his teacher, the teacher probably thinks the student is short of _. A. passion B. confidence C. money D. A or B29. Which of the following can take the place of the underlined word “intimate”? A. Enemies. B. Strange. C. Close. D. Cold. 30. Which of the following would be the best title of the passage?A.
