Daily report of greetings in English under different situations. 1. Do the translation work: English- Chinese/ Chinese-English;2. Do daily report.Students will have a revision of theyve learned.Step2.Lead - inWeve learned how to greet each other under different situations . “Do you want to know greetings in other cultures?” Have a brainstorming of some greetings in other cultures. Students will be led to the new lesson.Step 3. ScanningAsk the students to scan the passage, and answer this question: “How many kinds of greetings are mentioned in the passage?”Scan the passage quickly , then answer this question.Answer: Four.Students will have a comprehension of the text.Step 4. SkimmingSkim the passage again, then answer the following questions:1. Do people greet each other in the same way around the world?2. What do people find complicated when they travel to another country?3. How do people greet others in Europe?4. In which country people kiss and hug as a way of greeting?5. How do people greet others in India?6. In which country people bow from the waist as a way of greeting? Work in pairs to answer the questions given by the teacher, then check up.Step 5. Acting outShow the students different situations, encourage them to act out each way of greeting around the world.Some students act out each way of greeting around the world, according to different situations. (Some top students may act out as a model first, then the others may have a imitation.)Students will be interested in this part. Performance before class will be a good way to cultivate the students learning interest.Step 6 Explanation of the greetings1.“Youve known the ways of greetings in some other countries, but do you know their meanings? ” 2. Explain the meanings of different ways of greetings. a. Shaking hands: to show that you have no weapons;b. Hug: to show ones trust;c. Bow : from the traditional custom of kowtow;d. Putting palms together: a kind of religious custom. Learn the deeper meanings of each way of greetings around the world. Students will understand more about the greetings.Step 7. Wrap up.Lead the students to wrap up : Go over the whole unit: 1.
