Classification of the Books I Like to Read The books I like to read can be divided into three types, depending on the content or the form of the books. The first one I have read that has impacted me the most is biography, a form of literature that based on typical characters in the daily life to systematically describe the characters. Examples are Lives of the Artists, Penitential and the Autobiography of Bertrand Russell. The second kind called fiction, which portrays the characters as the center. It is a literary genre that reflects the social life through the complete story plots and the description of environment. Fiction has many kinds, such as science fictions, campus novels and romantic novels. Among them, my most favorite novel is science fiction, especially Harry Potter. The third kind is prose. The writing of prose literature was a comparatively recent innovation. Prose is a genre of literature, which takes characters as aesthetic objects. Its usual to include sketch and informal essay as well. Much famous prose is known to human being. For instance, Lu Xuns prose anthology Weed which is the ancestor of Chinese prose. One poem collection called Stray Birds I have read, which was written by Tagore. The above is what I like the kind of books. Should English Majors Study Math?When it comes to English majors study math, some people support the view that it is wasting time for English majors to study math, while others hold opposite opinions, arguing that studying math is essential for our English majors. There is probably some truth in both arguments, but for my part, Im in favor of the opinion that English majors should study math, for the following reasons: Firstly, it is commonly thought that our society had dramatically changed by modern science and technology, and human had made extraordinary progress in knowledge and technology. Moreover, math is a subject of science, which is an important tool for mastering modern scientific technology. Secondly, lacking of creativity and productively is common features in students of liberal arts. Nowadays, liberal art education not only cannot promote the development of students thinking ability, but also have a bad effect on students. Meanwhile, many students of art lack of a critical spirit, which results in series of disturbance to our daily life. Last but not least, to be a comprehensive talent, it is indispensable to study math. By using methods of math, we can cope with matters more objective and rational. Recently, the issue of religion is taken into consideration in assigning university dormitory has risen to public attention. Everyone holds their own perspectives. Taking many factors into account, I am in favor of that religion should be taken into consideration in assigning university dormitory. My reasons are as follows: Firstly, as we all know, China is a multi-ethnic country while Han as the majority of people. Although the Han culture has greatly influenced and shaped the culture of other ethnics, there are still different religions, such as Muslim, Christian and Buddhism. All ethnic groups and the people in all regions in China enjoy full freedom of the religious belief in accordance with laws. Chinese government also respects and protests the Moslems freedom of religious belief as well as their folk customs. Assigning university dormitory according to the religious belief can not only uphold national unity, but also promote the economic growth. In order to implement the policies of religion, we should give the people who have religion enough space and respect. Secondly, the arrangement of assigning university dormitory according to different religions is much humanized, which is popular among students. Different religions-believers have various habits and customs. For example, Hui and Uygur are faithing in Islam; the Hui nationality thinks about the people who eat pork is the ancestral symbol of slander. Also, many students with no religion dont know about the dietary restrictions of various ethnic and religious groups, which can lead to roommates contradictions. So, it is reasonable to arrange university dormitories in accordance with different religions. Otherwise, not only can it fail to inspire students passion of learning, but also create the harmful mood. In short, for the reasons given above, I think it might be fitting and proper to take religion into consideration in assigning university dormitory. Life Is Much Easier Today Than It Used to Be As we all know, life is always developing with the progress of history. In the last centuries, it is indisputable that there are millions of people who still have a miserable life and have to face the danger of starvation and exposure. This is especially true in Western China, where the pace of civilization was slower due to poor traffic and information conditions. The majority of people had a tough time that there were practical limitations of cash and location. But now, however, life is much easier today than it used to be. There are two reasons for the improvement in peoples living conditions. In the first, we have been carrying out the reform and opening-up policy. Secondly, there has been a rapid expansion of our national economy. Furthermore, the birth rate has been put under control, which is advantageous to the optimization of resources. For example, advances in medical technology have made it possible for people to live longer than in the past. Meanwhile, the number of people, who has access to their own cars, has risen sharply in recent years. And it is common for every one has mobile phones and computers. The public is benefiting more and more from scientific and technological inventions. Social inequities of the past are rapidly giving way to expend social consciousness as well. It appears that the gap between rich and poor people is narrowing. Not only the living conditions are much more comfortable, but also people pay more attention to the quality of life. In a word, life is much easier today than it used to be, which can demonstrate by comparing the present with the past. City Pollution Due to UrbanizationNowadays, the problem of city pollution is becoming increasingly serious in the society with urbanization development, arousing wide public concern. Urbanization means industrialization which promotes the process of urbanization. It is inevitable that industry can result in much pollution which can harm city dwellers health ignorantly. For example, the wastage which produced by factory can be waste water discharge or exhaust gas emission, which definitely can lead to environmental pollution badly. Obviously waste products bring about profound negative impact on environment, such as water pollution due to floating garbage, sanitary sewage, industrial waste water, each of which directly affects the water resource. For water source, if they are polluted, the ecosystems around which will be damaged and human beings are one of the victims. Moreover, the consumption of plastic bags grows as populations grows. While being very convenient to shoppers, plastic bags also cause serious white pollution which is very detrimental, for plastic bags can not disappear by natural decomposition. Whats more, most of the districts in China were shrouded by haze. Haze resulting from a number of industrials is air pollution which is mixed with dust, smoke and other dry grains, obscured the sky a lot of times. The haze in China has been caused by many factors, in which the increase of cars in the city area plays an important role. The cars let off quiet a lot poisonous gases, which in turn add to the seriousness of air pollution. Also many traffic accidents happened due to the heavy haze. Its reported that there are two-thirds of cities in China were surrounded by city pollution. It can be seen that it is urgent to solve the problem. The government should provide specific feasible scheme to deal with this problem, and a series measures should be taken as follows. One the one hand, some of the rubbish can be reused after a proper treatment, such as waste paper, bottles, metals, etc. People in the city should be told to classify the rubbish and the government should collect the rubbish on time. In this way, a large amount of rubbish can be retrieved and reused. On the other hand, government should not only enact more strict laws and regulations, but also keep perfecting our current laws on environment protection to regulate peoples daily action and the industrial production. In a word, people and governments should make joint efforts for city pollution; also everyone should reduce the severe impact of the pollution hand in hand.
