Unit 3 Tomorrow s world 2 同步练习同步练习 阅读理解阅读理解 A Yesterday I overheard our 9 year old son Aaron talking to his friend Zach Oh God Zach began peering in Aaron s closet Where are all your toys Oh we are doing something called Simplicity Plan so I basically got rid of 80 of my stuff What Did your mom and dad make you do this No I decided to do it because I wanted to When I give away a lot of my things I make room for family activities I did it because I wanted to live differently and have less stuff in my life But still why would you choose to get rid of most of your toys Part of the reason is that my parents were doing it with their stuff And my mom talked to me about it and explained how they felt happier afterwards And I thought maybe I really had spent a lot of my time in my room playing with toys instead of spending time with my parents and sister Seriously I feel proud because I am a person who has just what I need and not more And I m starting new activities like writing how I feel reading more and spending more time doing housework around the house OK Let me get this straight You have fewer toys more housework and you feel happier Well it s not that the housework is fun But I do it with my parents We talk and connect while we re doing it so that is the fun And we ve been doing more activities together like reading aloud at night And on weekends we have conversations or go out together instead of my dad being at his computer my mom cleaning and me playing with my toys 1 When Zach found Aaron s toys were gone he was A proud B surprised C relaxed D excited 2 Why did Aaron give away most of his toys A Because he didn t like them B Because his parents made him do it C Because he had no time to play with them D Because he wanted to spend more time with his family 3 After passage that Aaron A used to enjoy reading B will get his toys back soon C used to write a lot about his feelings D enjoys doing housework with his parents 5 What can we infer from the passage A Zach will not get rid of his toys B Aaron doesn t like going out with his parents C Members in the writer s family now feel closer D The father still likes being at his computer on weekends B This story is about a man who once upon a time was selling hotdogs by the roadside He had never been in school so he never read newspapers He was hard of hearing so he never listened to the radio His eyes were weak so he never watched television But he was interested in selling hotdogs and was smart enough to think of some clever ways to increase his sales His sales and profit went up He hired some men to serve more customers Slowly his business became a bigger and better one As his business was growing his son who had recently graduated from a college joined him Then something strange happened The son asked Dad aren t you aware of the great recession that is coming our way The father replied No but tell me about it Son said The international situation is terrible The domestic situation is even worse We should be prepared for the coming bad time The man thought that since his son had been to college read the papers listened to the radio and watched TV he ought to know and his advice should be taken So the next day onwards the father cut down his orders took down the colorful signboard 招牌 and fired some staff Very soon fewer and fewer people went to his hotdog stand 销售亭 And his sales started coming down rapidly the same is the profit The father said to his son Son you were right we are in the middle of a recession and crisis I am glad you warned me ahead of time 6 What helped the father
